Description:

Start the New Year off right by trying something different.

In this swap, everyone has one partner. You will test out a new craft of your choice and send the finished product to your partner. The craft you do is totally up to you -- read below for suggestions, but pick whatever interests you. Feel free to read your partner's profile for ideas, but the decision is the swapper's. The end result doesn't have to be flawless or beautiful, just complete and full of love. Along with the item, include a little note about why you chose this particular craft to try and how the experience was.

I'm going to limit participation in this swap to those with ratings above 4.5. However, if you've been unfairly rated in the past or you're a dedicated newbie, contact me. I will ban anyone with no-sends in the past six months. I really hope no one flakes, but if anyone is interested in angeling this swap, let me know.

Here are suggestions for things to try: *Knitting *Crocheting *Making jewelry *Making a journal *Creating an ATC *Sewing *Dipping a candle *Paper making *Silk screening *Embroidering *Anything else that strikes your fancy!

Thanks to everyone who signed up so far!

International? I just paid a bundle to mail something to Israel. I didn't really mind but was surprised at the expense.

I do want to keep this international. I think it's acceptable to keep your partner's location in mind when choosing a craft, though. It's fine to make your first ATC instead of, say, a quilt if you're sending far away. Does that seem alright?

Feel free to send me your first inchie, I'd have it much better than, say, your first three-story doll house! (not that much room in here..)

Wow! This is a great swap idea! I just learned how to make those awesome Dotee dolls (I am on doll #5 now, and have reserved the second one I made for this swap - not the first, as it was not too great)....

pahasiga 01/14/2008 #

I have tried several crafts already, but I will wait for partners to be assigned to decide which one I will send (as the one I like best would not be suitable for someone living in tropical climate or allergic to wool).

If I'm your partner, pahasiga, I'll send you a canoe carved out of a tree trunk. (just kidding, of course)

Thanks, fivecats1! I still haven't decided what I'll send yet. There are so many things I'd like to try, so I'm narrowing it down as we speak.

So here is the dotee I made for this swap1! (only the second one I ever made - I kept the first one, selfishly...). Comments welcome from all of you experienced dotee makers!!!
