Description:

I was listing to 'my junk' from the awesome musical "spring awakening" on youtube.... it's fabulous, I insist you go see it now! But it got me thinking....I don't own that kind of junk.... however, I do have lots of Junk Mail! cool flyers for music club nights, leaflets for art exhibitions, adverts for shops, don't panic mailers etc...

So here is THE PLAN!

Step 1) you are to send to your partner (you will have only one of these) one leaflet, or flyer that you think has a cool image on it, nice lettering or some other redeeming quality. As most flyers weigh no more than a postcard, they should be very light and very low cost to mail to your partner.

Step 2) Please mail the flyer to your partner very promptly as they will need it in order to complete the swap. I will keep a supply of flyers so if for any reason you have not received one within 2 weeks of partner assignment, you can contact me and I will send you one to work with.

Step 3) Upon receiving your flyer, you are to make it into something, but you cannot use it as a collage to make a new postcard or ATC or bookmarks....these are too easy and too obvious....this is a challenge!. Suggestions for possible usage - cutting out an image, laminating it so then it can be turned into a broach, hair slide or pendant, folding it up to make a gift box, cutting parts out so it could be used as some sort of photo frame for really tiny pictures, and if you get really stuck, an origami animal, cubee person. What ever you do make, you do not have to use the entirety of the flyer, but must use some part of it.

Permited materials: glue, scissors, tape, laminating sheets, pins / badge backs, photo corners, hair grips (for making hair slides) jump rings (for pendants) anything else you may need.... but you cannot draw onto your flyer or change the colour of it (so no painting or adding glitter glue!)

Step 4) send what ever you make on to your partner! (yes I am aware that who ever you send your item onto is not the person who send it to you!)

It is a long send time to allow time for flyer arrival, time to make an item. Item produced is sender's choice.

Any Questions, comments? just leave them at the bottom!

So your partner sends you a flyer you make something and then send it back to them is that right? I just want to make sure I understand correctly.

Something like that. Might change it so that you pick the junk mail yourself and have to include a 'before' image. Wasn't sure exactly how it would go as nobody would get the same person for send and receive.

The idea was that each person sends a piece of junk mail to each other. You do not rate at this point. You then make something with the junk mail and send the crafted item on to them. You rate when you receive the item. As your receive from partner is not the same person as your send to partner, you would not be sending the crafted item back to the person who sent the junk mail to begin with.

Can we send a couple of different flyers so that our partner can choose which one they find most inspiring? Or would that be 'cheating'?

no harm in sending two flyers so they can pick which they would most prefer to work with, as long as the final item is only made out of 1 flyer.

ok, this is how it's going to go (now that I have assigned partners) I will send a flyer to summerhawk, who will then use that flyer to make something to send to kessie. summerhawk will also need to send a flyer to kessie, for her to make something for me, and kessie will send a flyer to me, for me to make an item for summerhawk. do not rate until you have received your final item, but please do comment on people's profiles to say you received your flyer. Make sense? Ok, go! :)
