Description:

HIPPY/AGE OF AQUARIUS-- SEW CRAFTYâ„¢SWAP #5!

Anyone besides me remember the wild year of 1969, hippies, the musical Hair, and the song, "Let the Sunshine In (This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius)" ? Any sewing crafter besides me who is a hippy at heart? Then this is the swap for you!

THEME: "AGE OF AQUARIUS"

CATEGORIES:

  1. Tie Dye
  2. Celestial/Zodiac
  3. Hippy/Psychedelic/Flower Power/Smiley Face
  4. Peace/Love/Rock and Roll
  5. WILD CARD FREE CHOICEâ„¢
  6. Treat
  7. Note

ITEMS: You will be sending one item for each category. If you send an item that qualifies for more than one category, please choose which category it represents. You can, of course, send more if you'd like, but the requirement is for a minimum of one item per category.

Categories 1 through 5: Since this is a SEW CRAFTYâ„¢ SWAP, your items will be sewing and craft-related. MAKE SURE AT LEAST 2 OF YOUR ITEMS ARE FABRIC--either 2 Fat quarters or 1 Fat quarter and 2 fat eighths, chosen to match 2 of the categories above.

Other sewing-related but non-fabric items you might send are buttons, ribbons, threads, appliques, small sewing items, pincushions, patterns, magazines, small handmade items, and such. See "Ideas" for examples. The note and the treat are of course non-sewing items, and the wild card free choice can be another fat quarter of fabric, or anything sewing or craft-related, based on your partner's profile!

If you send ribbon for one of the categories, please send a minimum of one yard.

Category 6: Since we all love getting little treats, this is a small item that is edible, drinkable, or usable, such as a small candy, a tea bag, a colorful gel pen, etc. It does not have to be sewing or craft-related, and it can be very small. You can follow your assigned partner's profile for ideas or preferences, or if none are listed, simply choose something you might enjoy.

Category 7: Please send a note enclosed in your package with the item identified for each category. Please include your Swap-Bot name so your partner knows who to rate and to whom to say "thanks!"

IDEAS: Here are examples of packages you might assemble for your partner for the AGE OF AQUARIUS SEW CRAFTYâ„¢ SWAP--

Example A: a fat quarter of tie-dye fabric for #1, 1 fat eighth of zodiac and 1 fat eighth of celestial fabric for #2, a pattern for a gypsy/peasant skirt for #3, a peace sign applique for #4, a tie-dye bandana for #5, a package of hot cocoa for #6, and of course your note for #7.
Example B: a small tie dye kit for #1, a fat quarter of celestial fabric for #2, a yard of smiley faces ribbon for #3, a fat quarter of muslin you have hand decorated with peace signs (make sure you have heat-set it, that it is washable, and that it can be used for a sewing project by your partner) for #4, a package of hemp cord and some beads for #5, a tea bag or two for #6, and of course your note for #7.
Example C: a craft book or magazine with tie-dye instructions in it for #1, a package of sun and moon buttons for #2, a fat quarter of psychedelic fabric for #3, a fat quarter of guitar fabric for #4, a package of guitar buttons for #5, a small bag of coffee for #6, and of course your note for #7.

As you can see, you can be very creative with your package! Think of it as assembling a small "gift basket" for your partner, centered around the theme, with each category represented. (No, you don't have to package it up in a basket.) There is no set dollar amount for this swap, but please send nice items that you would like to receive. You can check your partner’s profile for likes, dislikes, and faves, and you can email them for ideas or preferences; you can follow your own creative ideas as well. You can list an idea or preference below in the comment section, but please, don't be too picky. If your partner has followed the swap requirements as listed above, please rate them accordingly.

For hearts, of course, you can send extra goodies, or perhaps tuck everything into a basket, or "hippy" tote bag if you'd like. For hearts, of course, you can send extra goodies, or perhaps tuck everything into a basket, or small handmade tote bag if you'd like. Or send extra fabric, ribbon, buttons, notions or treats. But this is optional. The only requirements are as listed above.

As always, I allow high quality swappers only. Because of past swap hosting experience, I do not allow newbies in my swaps. I'm sorry. If you are new, go, get experience, and watch for a later SEW CRAFTYâ„¢ SWAP! There are lots more coming throughout 2008! Some of them are already posted, so be sure to sign up once your swapping history is excellent.

ALSO, be sure to check out my separate swaps for LUCK O'THE IRISH-- SEW CRAFTYâ„¢SWAP #6, LITTLE SCOTTIE DOGS-- SEW CRAFTYâ„¢SWAP #7, FABRIC COASTERS, 6-INCH/153mm FABRIC SQUARES, FAIRY QUILTS, and GIFTS FOR MY HOUSE FAIRY! I will be hosting lots of these swaps throughout 2008!

Future themes for my SEW CRAFTYâ„¢ SWAPs will include specific COLOR MEâ„¢ themes, Luck O'The Irish, Scottie Dogs, Seeing Spots, fruit, ocean/nautical/lighthouses, back to school, hearts and valentines, spring, summer, autumn, winter, coffee/tea, brights, pastels, retro kitchen, My Fairy Godmother, For the Birds, etc.

DUE TO POSTAGE COSTS, for now this swap is US only. So far, only one person has requested an international swap. Please message me directly if you want me to host an international version. Many of my other swaps ARE international, though, so there's always that option. Be sure and check them out.

AS ALWAYS, BE SURE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. If my instructions are not clear, just send me a private message and I'll clarify. And most of all, HAVE FUN! HAPPY SWAPPING! ©
