Description:

This swap is for people who are into oldschoolish photography. I always wanted to do that kind of swap but I am sure that not that many people still takes photos with photofilms.

Photographic film is a sheet of plastic (polyester, PET, nitrocellulose or cellulose acetate) coated with an emulsion containing light-sensitive silver halide salts (bonded by gelatin) with variable crystal sizes that determine the sensitivity, contrast and resolution of the film. When the emulsion is sufficiently exposed to light (or other forms of electromagnetic radiation such as X-rays), it forms a latent (invisible) image. Chemical processes can then be applied to the film to create a visible image, in a process called film developing.

So, if you use photographic film camera insted of digital camera this swap is for you!

It is very simple:

  1. Buy new photofilm (B&W or color; 24 or 36 (number of photos)) and put it into your camera.

  2. Use all photofilm for taking photos. It could be any kind of photos.

  3. Take the film off and send it to your partner. (!)You don't need to develop the film! Your mission is to take photos. Your partner is going to develop the film or take photos on your photos. Actually it is quite fun because after developing films you see mixed photos (one of your partner and one of you) on one photo.

It would be nice if you write down something about the photos you took. I know it is hard when you don't see photos but something what you remember.

I hope to find some people who holds the same views as I do.

Interesting to see how many people still use this type of film.

I'd love to join but have to lurk a bit to see if I have the time to do this project. I don't use digital cameras for anything except throwaway stuff ie. photos I take of my products for Etsy etc.

I LOVE this idea :)

I love this idea but I am not sure I understand the third requirement above. So I am taking picture on the entire roll of film, rewinding the roll and sending it to my partner. I think I got lost at the part where my partner take photos over mine. Can somebody clarify this for me? Thanks!

Well, your mission is to take photos and send the roll. Your partner could develop that film or take photos on not developed film, it is some kind of art.
