Valentine Magic Yarn/Ribbon Ball swap!

So Valentine’s Day is over a month away….time for the Valentine-y swaps to appear!

A MYB or Magic Yarn Ball for those who don’t know is a yarn ball you’ve wound with prizes tucked inside. As someone unwinds or knits or crochets their way out, they find the prizes within. Now I find that limiting so, for this swap, you may opt to do a ‘ribbon’ ball, if your partner is not a knitter or crocheter. Or just add some for some fun!

For this swap you’ll send One Magic Ribbon/Yarn Ball in a Valentine theme to one partner. Think hearts, Reds, and pinks sure. But also think purple and white. Paris. Rome. Cherubs. Love potions. Scents like roses and violets. Think beyond the regular hearts.

Ideas for stuff to tuck inside:

• chapstick/lip balm/lipsticks
• measuring tape
• jewelry
• charms/pendants
• pens/pencils
• small stamps (unused!)/ink pads
• stitch markers
• crochet hooks/knitting needles
• scrapbooking supplies
• small punches
• candy (please make sure these won’t melt all over your yarn ball!)
• key chains
• erasers
• stickers (try not to bend them please)
• stitch counters
• valentine trinkets
• scissors
• tea bags (please make sure these are individually wrapped!)
• socks, fingerless gloves or smaller knit or crochet items you made!
• buttons

Must include a valentine topper/headpiece to your yarn ball of some sort. This can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. It can be store bought. Handmade.

There are just a few guidelines (rules) to follow during this swap:

• There must be at LEAST 8 different items in the yarn ball (this includes the topper). Two tea bags, even if different kinds, won’t count. Same with candy. An Example of 8 different items would be: stitch markers, knitting needles, a heart shaped sticky pad, a pack of stickers, a couple of beads, a pair of fingerless gloves, a heart ornament you made for the topper, and some Valentine’s day candy.

• Items CAN be handmade OR storebought.

• Nobody wants your junk. You can get nice things out of your stash. But no one wants reward or free stickers. Pony beads. Or trash. Do NOT send anything junkie. Stinky. Dirty. Broken. Damaged. Or just pieces of trash. Send something You would want! Something that would make You proud! Something heartworthy in the spirit of the Holiday!

• Likewise. Nobody wants your yarn that’s been sitting next to your kitty’s bed all week. Yes, I’m sure your cat is precious. I have one, too. She’s a doll. But no one wants to get matted, tangled, yucky, yarn that is only good for the trash. Even if gold is wrapped in it! Please send something beautiful. Ribbon should be at least 12 inches in length so it’s usable. And your partner should get two balls of yarn (the balls can be the same or different). As you are filling this puppy, it should not be hard to achieve a 6 inch radius around your ball (minimum!).

• You ‘ball’ doesn’t have to be a perfect ball (actually I think it would be neat if someone would try to make a heart!). I know how hard it can be. So, try your best. But do try to make something pretty.

• This is a sender’s choice swap. But you MUST look over your partner’s profile for allergies AND know whether they are a knitter or crocheter or neither. Minimum. I would encourage you to look for stuff THEY would like (it’s polite). But you don’t HAVE to.

• Please include a note with your swapbot name and swap name!

Ratings: This is a sender choice swap, HOWEVER!!! Allergies and hobby MUST be taken into account!

Please rate accordingly within the rules set by the Swapbot Admin. If you received, it was on time, and it met the requirements, then it should be a five. This is a swap for ALL skill levels of crafting, but all crafts must be quality pieces! Items should not be dirty/broken/nasty OR go against postal regulations or against the law. Items should be nice looking and pieces of art you as the sender would be proud to own!

Eligibility: No 1's within a year! No recent 3’s (within 6 months). No suspicious behavior (over-tagging and no sends for instance or dashboard of 20+ swaps that are all sent but no rating yet). Yes, I will be going over profiles and I reserve the right to ban anyone from this swap with a PMed explination. Must AT LEAST have a 4.75 rating. Newbies who have FIVE type three swaps under their belt may join – NO UNRATED NEWBIES! This is international, so be prepared. Must be committed. Please, try not to send last minute (it happens though, but please try to be timely, I gave a lot of time because this is larger swap and crafting is involved).
