Description:

Do you ever have a day in Summer where it's to hot, and you just feel lazy, or lack inspiration? This journal is for you.

For this swap you take one journal. You are not filling the journal, but enriching the journal with prompts, art, quotes, and whatever you think will make the journal nice. (Prompts, can be on the page itself, each one on a different post-it and scattered through the journal, or on a list included with the journal)

In most cases what you add to the journal will not take up a lot of space, so that your partner has a place to put their wonderful ideas. The journal you send for this swap, will stay with whoever your swap partner is.

What do I add to the journal?

Use your partners profile for ideas, but does not have to be profile specific. Can add writing prompts, art prompts, cheap sumer activities or challenges.

ex. of Sumer challenges: try this recipe..., Go for a walk outside try to record 5 things for each of your senses, have a picnic outside-what was it like?, blow bubbles, add a word puzzle, etc.

Other ways to fill journal: Look at profile and notice that the person really likes Oceans. You can take that theme for ideas. Maybe add a beautiful Ocean picture to one page, decorative seashell border on a page, quote, maybe a prompt like: If I were a mermaid I would... My favorite memory at the Ocean is... This is just an example it doesn't all have to be one theme.

Details summed up:

  • You will have one partner.

  • Create one journal for one person.

  • Journals should be at least 4x6, but can be bigger.

  • Journal should have at least 50 pages.

  • Handmade or store bought journal is fine.

  • Cover can be decorated if you like.

  • Post below if you would like to receive a journal that has lines or is unlined.

  • Include a small journal goodie under $5, (does not have to be brand new, just usable and not dirty) like a sheet or two of pretty stickers, a stamper, pen, brads, or something you think your partner would like.

  • Journal should include at least 15 prompt.

  • Journal should also include at least 10 embellished/decorative elements through out the journal such as:inspirational art, decorative art- that you make or some one else made, photo, background on a page, decorative border, etc.

Create a fun journal for your partner to complete, and receive a journal to enjoy throughout your sumer travels:)Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

What an awesome idea. I would love to join this but I am already signed up for the "3M" swap. I just can't let two swaps overlap. Besides, I am involved in an angelled journal swap for someone who is angelling one for me. Two different swaps. I do love this, though.

@Grandmaroro I totally understand. Journal swaps take a lot of time. I don't want the two swaps to conflict, I could push the date back a little if that would help? I teach so, I was kind of hoping I could have one to fill for the summer, hence the swap:)

That would be great. For someone who never kept a journal in her life - they have become my favorite swaps. Thanks bunches.

I pushed it back a week, if there is more demand I can change it.

Oh I would join but I am going away June to half way through July. Its a great idea though

I am not quite sure if I got it right.... We buy/make a journal with at least 50 pages and then add a minimum of 15 prompts and 10 embellishments ??? We do NOT decorate the whole 50 pages, right ?

junieandj 05/ 4/2012 #

@Damiola This is not a journal you fill out, It's for your partner to fill out. You send prompts or activities for your swap- partner to complete. The embellishments are just to make some the pages a little less scary and more interesting then a blank page. The 15 prompts and 10 embellishments was just to give some consistency for what people may receive. You could certainly add more then the required if you choose, but you do not decorate all of the pages in the journal.

For the one I create, I plan to put maybe a small doodle in the corner of a page, or a border on some pages, maybe a tag attached with something they like, etc on quite a few pages. This will NOT be something where I've used up the page with my own journaling, but a place (hopefully) inviting for my partner to journal.

Kind of like creating a fill in the prompt journal type of journal for your partner. It doesn't have to be specific to journaling prompts. You can add things like a challenge to try a recipe, or do something and then the partner can document what they did in the journal if they like.

This site has some cool printable pages that may give you some ideas http://www.graceisoverrated.com/p/journal-pages.html

If you have any questions please let me know. I posted this here instead of s-mail, just so we can all be on the same page.

Lined or unlined are both fine with me. Whatever is more convenient for my partner.

junieandj 05/ 7/2012 #

Just a reminder today is the last day to join.

I like unlined, but I also use lined so either is really fine

@kiddo47 So glad you joined:)

morgainegeiser 05/ 7/2012 #

I will use either, but I prefer lined.
