Let me give credit to Bekra for the original cento swap. Most of this swap is quoted from her cento swap. Ok, so I just found out about this thing called a cento. Here's a definition for it. "A cento is a poem composed entirely of lines taken from already published poems by different authors. The word "cento" means "stitched," and you can think of a cento as a verbal quilt made up of fabric (=lines) from different sources, sewn together. For a longer description of the cento and two lovely examples, see http://thewordshop.tripod.com/cento.html"-Bekra's original swap I thought it would be cool if we got a swap started where we had to write 3 centos for 3 different partners. You can send them all the same cento or 3 different ones, that'll be up to you. Your cento must be at least 5 lines. Try not to use an author twice or more than one line from the same poem. Don't change anything from the original line. And add a key where you explain what poem you borrowed from and the author. Maybe even include copies of the original poems. Newbies are welcome so long as they message me first, and people with a rating of 4.0 and up. This is international and you can use any media, a letter, a collage, a postcard, whatever you want. |
