newbie friendly kawaii swap #1

I have no idea of where to even find those brands except for sanrio. Do they sell those brands in regular craft stores and in the US?

Well, the "Hello Kitty" items I buy at Target have ."Sanrio" brand on all the items...so how are they knock-offs, exactly.? Target would not be allowed to sell Sanrio counterfeit items, so they are not "knock-offs".

@ junkjubilee you can buy kawaii items at kawaiidepot.com they have very fast shipping, kawaiiya.com they've got great prices not quite so fast shipping, also look up "kawaii shops online" . Most people in America do not have local kawaii places that sell kawaii branded items, a lot of times you need to go online for these. Hope that helps :-)

@ candigirl- kawaii items can tend to be pricey, thats why most kawaii collectors do not want to trade for Sanrio items much less dollar store or dollar aisle items. Most things that you see at target have bought the license to make hello kitty items for cheap, most of these cheap things are made in china, and are not the quality items that you would find In an official Sanrio store. I hope that helps :).

I guess I don't really understand how a pad of post it notes, or a set of stationary, or other paper items are "less quality" when they come from Target. I have a Sanrio store here in Orlando, at the Millenia Mall, and I buy things there as well as at Target, and I can tell you definitively that the stationary items and pens, etc., are NOT of lesser quality. I have both. I don't buy people the $60 tote bags at the Sanrio store for swaps, although I buy them for myself, so I still have a problem with not being able to swap the little tins and magnetic pads with HK from Target. I will have to respectfully disagree with the opinion of the quality here, so I will bow out of the swap..but hope you all enjoy!!

It takes some time to figure out the differences between the two, but a memo sheet is not a post it. People in kawaii swaps just don't like getting hk from target, sorry if that upsets you. Kawaii swaps are based around collecting different designs, characters, and brands, hk dollar items are to widely available, and not desirable. I think I will join this swap =p and I have to agree with @nanetteyf about the Target license Sanrio items vs the "Official Sanrio" items from the Sanrio store. The quality and designs are very different between the two.
