Description:

Hi everyone! I have had a ton of luck with these ribbon swaps so here goes another, I dont do them too often, so join while you can!!

You will have 5 partners!! To each partner you will send 10 different strips of ribbon, lace, or trim.

-Each strip must measure at least 12 inches (1 foot) in length.

-Sender's choice in colors and themes! Sender will decide to send their partners, ribbon, lace, trim, or a mixture, however the sender wants to put it together.

-All strips should be clean and in trade-ready condition.

-Please do not send synthetic ribbon like plastic birthday ribbons or sticker ribbons this is not what this swap is about,.....this swap if for gross grain, silk, sheer, satin, etc.

-Do not rate your partner low because you do not like the colors, brand, fiber, designs etc. only rate your partner low if they did not abide by the guide lines,.....didnt send the right amount/quanity, or the sizes were too short etc.

Not like it should have to be said but DO NOT sign up for this swap if you do not intend to see it through! This swap is not for "newbies" due to past issues with big swaps and new swappers; we can set up a private swap if you wish....also, please no one with under a 4.90 rating, I check before I assign!! I am making it this way to hopefuly weed out any and all "flakes". Thank you for understanding.

Does this mean no polyester or rayon? They are synthetic.

thebragal 09/17/2012 #

I was thinking along the same lines as @LINDA50 Most ribbons except silk, the occasional cotton like twill tape and very rarely rayon like seam binding are synthetic-polyester. I think what she means is no paper or cheap gift wrapping/florist ribbons. These should all be sewing quality ribbon. If you can't wash it, don't use it. (you may copy any or all of that if you like @jessicalynn1978

If you want to know if a fabric, fibre or ribbon is synthetic, touch a flame (safely over a sink of water) to it. If it beads up and melts, it's synthetic. If it smolders or burns, it's natural. Blends are tricky but the usually act like whatever content is greatest. I've never tested a 50/50 blend.

Hi LINDA50 and thebragal, thanks for your comments and questions,....... thebragal you said it great; these should all be "sewing quality ribbons" :) Just no cheap gift wrap types. Polyester and Rayon should be fine. I hope this helps clear things up :) :)

Please let me know if you host a swap with longer lengths (like 18"+) or if someone wants to do a private swap :) Thanks - @iLoveMail

What about yarn?

charophyta 09/26/2012 #

I wouldn't say rayon is synthetic. It's made from cellulose, from plants.
