Description:

I am trying to learn to quilt on my home machine, and I've gotten into making all kinds of mini quilts as a result.

For this swap you will have one partner and you will make them a mini quilt. For this swap, the definition of a mini quilt means at least one side is 10 inches finished and no side is smaller than 6 inches finished The quilt can be a candle quilt, table topper, table runner, wall hanging, etc. It can even be a mug rug or quiltini as long as it meets the size requirement.

This is for finished mini quilts, so pieced (or appliqued), quilted, and bound by some method. (Binding-less/self binding quilts and hemmed quilts are fine. The point is that the recipient should not have to do anything to the quilt when they receive it except display it).

These can be any theme, and use any technique. Here's the important part: New quilters are welcome. This means you may get a quilt made by a brand new quilter, so please be gentle/patient with them. I doubt that would be a problem as quilters are a very nurturing group, but I do want to make sure everyone is aware.

I was tempted to make a really long lead time, but I think anyone who is serious about quilting already has all the supplies necessary, and it is better to do this quickly rather than put it off. So you will have three weeks from the signup date to complete and send your items. I am setting the signup date fairly close, but if we don't get enough quilters signed up, I will push the dates for another week or so.

Rating requirements: 4.95 with no recent 1's or 3's.

This is an international swap as there are quilters all over the world. These shouldn't be too heavy, and they are also flexible, so shipping hopefully won't be much of a burden.

We shouldn't have any flakers, but if we do, I can angel. (Additional angels welcome)

PM me with any questions or if you think of anything I have forgotten.

This is sender's choice, so you can actually start making your quilt as soon as you sign up...

I love this idea! I know I don't have 30 type 3 swaps but please let me join. I love quilting and making things. I won't let you down if you let me join! =)

debhous 10/20/2012 #

I will take Clover 09 for my partner if you let her join. I am sure she will do a great job and we all have to start somewhere! I am sure I will be happy with her creation!

LINBUR0100 10/22/2012 #

@Clover09 As we get closer to signup date, if none of the participants has an objection to a newer swapper, I don't have a problem with it either. If I do have some objections, then I may need to ask that you wait until the next round after you have a few solid swaps under your belt. But let's see as time gets closer.

@debhous unfortunately, I can't assign a specific partner.

I'd be willing to do a one-on-one swap for a mini-quilt with @Clover09 to help her get her counts up. I can set up a private swap for the same dates. PM me if you want to Clover

Sorry! I just now read the part about 30 type 3 swaps! I will withdraw. I have a lot on my plate anyway. I had my mini quilt all pieced together and was in the quilting stage. I only hand piece and hand quilt, so maybe this wasn't the right swap for me anyway. My apologies. Kelly

sugarskull 10/30/2012 #

@kellyjo i'd private you, i don't know how to machine quilt yet.

LINBUR0100 10/31/2012 #

@KellyJo I am PMing you. Please don't leave the swap. I am going to change the swap requirements since we have had several people ask to join before the 30 swaps, and none of the swappers have been concerned with it.

Other swappers, please let me know if there are any objections to removing that requirement.

Sorry to host and to all for acting like a spoiled brat. I'd love to join this swap, I think it will be quite a fun one.

LINBUR0100 11/ 6/2012 #

Oh goodness @KellyJo I just saw your comment. You certainly were not acting like a spoiled brat! Good luck with your quilt.

SamBuck 11/ 7/2012 #

I have never made a quilt before so this will be my first time. I've been wanting to get into quilting for a while so this is the little push I needed! Thanks, can't wait!

SamBuck 11/ 7/2012 #

If you guys don't mind helping a newbie out...what exactly is a quiltini and a mugrug? I tried googling 'define quiltini' and it brought me back here, lol!

siouxx05 11/ 8/2012 #

mug rugs for @SamBuck A quiltini is just another name for a mug rug..

LINBUR0100 11/ 9/2012 #

Thank you @siouxx05 I only recently discovered that name for a mug rug and it was so cute. But it isn't as common yet. :-)

SamBuck 11/ 9/2012 #

Oh okay great, thank you!
