Graffiti Art ATC

I recently have been doing Graffiti Art with my high school students and it has been a blast. There are soo many things I never knew about graffiti art. I thought it would be a blast to do a Graffiti ATC for two partners. Once you start you can't stop. Trust me! What you might want to do is start looking at examples of Graffiti Art on the web, there is a lot out there. The basic way we started doing this (on a seperate piece of paper first) was to block in your word (any word). By block in a mean use block letters, script letters, bubble letters anything. Then we started manipulating the word by smooshing it together or connecting it in some way. The side of an M can go through an O or U, things like that. There is also something else to graffiti art. There is symbolism. Most artist include something that they like or what they are feeling at the time. For example during the LA Riots Graffiti Artists were including people wearing gas masks, they were writing poems or other things under or around their word that expressed what they felt. You don't have to include symbolism unless you want to. Another characteristic of Graffiti art is wild colors. Lots of colors! Not only are the colors inside your word but they surround your word as well. Look at examples online and get ideas. Have fun with this!!! IF you have questions just ask.
