Picasso once said: “Nothing destroys creativity like good taste. Let’s make ATCs inspired by objects of bad taste that are so bad they're good in an ironic way. Fuzzy dice, card-playing dogs, painting on black velvet, and big-eyed kids are obvious examples, but you can do better (worse?) than that! Let’s make 3 ATCs each for 3 swap partners. All media welcome. This is an international swap. Bad art is better than no art at all. Kitsch is other people's bad taste. Remember, the key here is irony. ATC is short for Artist Trading Cards. This is a format for artists and creative people to trade their artwork. The rules are simple: 1. These cards must be 2.5 by 3.5 (the size of a baseball card). 2. They are traded but not sold. This is a free exchange of art. Pretty radical actually. 3. These are CARDS, they shouldn’t be flimsy. On the back, put your contact information. Please put your swap-bot name somewhere on the card or envelope so the receiver can thank you. You can also sign, date and title your work. There are web sites and live trading session where folks exchange ATCs. You can see some of my ATCs on my favourite trading site (tell ‘em wackystuff sent you): http://www.atcards.com/gallery/browseimages.php?do=member&imageuser=1400 Feel free to upload images of the cards you make to swap-bot after the signup deadline. |
