Description:

I am obsessed with Washi Tape. OBSESSED!! I have over 50 different rolls and I am always looking to add more to my collection. This swap is intended to help expand our washi tape stash with some new designs.

~ You will have 2 partners and send each person 10 - 1/2 yard (18 inch) strips of washi tape. You will end up with 10 yards of washi tape!!!

~ Each of the 10 strips you send to your partners need to be different patterns or designs

~ only two solid color strip allowed; patterns preferred

~ only one holiday themed strip allowed

~ please select a variety of colors too if possible

~ This swap is only for washi tape. The Michael's brand Recollections calls their washi tape craft tape and is allowed. Please do not use deco tape, fabric tape, glitter tape, etc. in place of the washi tape. You can send this as an extra thing but not as part of the 10 - 1/2 yard strips.

~ The tape should be nicely wrapped around something. Many people prefer it wrapped on wax paper.

Ratings of 4.8 or higher is required with no 1's or 3's in the last 3 months. If you don't meet the requirements, you can message me your reason you should be allowed to join in.

I hope you join in! Happy Swapping!!!!

1/2 yard = 18 inches = about 1/2 meter. right? :D

trula 04/21/2013 #

Is handmade washi tape ok, or does it have to be store bought? Also, if handmade was ok, can it be made with tissue paper, or does it have to be made with official Japanese washi paper? Thanks! Trula

KristinCali 04/21/2013 #

Darn, I only have 7 rolls

Cesaria 04/21/2013 #

I hope there will be a number 4 of this swap, because this time I will not be able to participate, but I loved all the pieces I received in the last one!

fayeray99 04/22/2013 #

@wadesay - It is a little half then a 1/2 meter. I just did a conversion and it said .45 of a meter is 18 inches

fayeray99 04/22/2013 #

@trula - typically this is for store bought washi tape. you could send an extra handmade one if you like but I would perfer not to allow handmade on this particular swap. Thanks for asking

@KristinCali - I am sorry you only have 7 rolls. Last time I did a washi swap I did a 5 and a 10 design swap but it seemed like the same people signed up for both so I only did one this time around. My next swap I will do less designs to help out those starting their collections!!

fayeray99 04/22/2013 #

@Cesaria - I plan to do these fairly regularly... at lease while washi tape is still really popular :) Hope to see you join in again!

KristinCali 04/22/2013 #

Oh I'm sure I'll be purchasing more rolls soon! It's an addiction haha

Bo 04/26/2013 #

I do not have wax paper. Is there any other which can be useful for tapes? I´d really like to join the swap.

mizvicky 04/26/2013 #

I don't have time to buy more Washi tape for this swap:(. I'd join if I'd seen this sooner...

I'm hosting a Washi swap ( handmade ) next week . With just 3 different type tapes. Easy to make :). And soooo fun

KristinCali 04/26/2013 #

@bo I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS!... put a piece of cardboard inside a plastic bag. Then wrap your tape around the outside of the bag!

KristinCali 04/26/2013 #

I just tried my idea. Took a half-size ziplock baggie, cut a piece of cardstock to fit inside. Wrapped my tape around it. WORKED PERFECT! I would love to receive mine the same way, because it's easy for the person to unroll when they use it.

fayeray99 04/26/2013 #

@KristinCali - Great idea. Thanks for sharing!!

If you have 2 partners, and you're sending each 10 samples, a half yard each, wouldn't you end up with 10 yards of washi tape at the end?

I've been puzzling this over for a couple days, wondering.

fayeray99 04/27/2013 #

Yep... you are right. I originally had 10 yards and then second guessed myself. Darn it... now I feel silly. It is 5 yards per partner. Thanks for catching that @smadronia

fayeray99 04/27/2013 #

Just updated it!!

smadronia 04/27/2013 #

I was just curious. You know how one little thing will occupy your mind at the worst time? That was my thing this week. I'm looking forward to this swap, so many neat things :)

brunettemusings 05/ 3/2013 #

Btw! I just wanted to leave a head's-up! I've been super busy launching a penpal related project with friends, and working on a snailmail magazine so I wasn't able to go to the PO today to send my swap.. (I listed that I had, just so I wouldn't get emails) and because I have full intention of sending them off tomorrow. I promise. Sorry about this! Hope it's alright. xxo

fayeray99 05/ 4/2013 #

@brunettemusings - thanks for letting us know. I think I might have had too tight of a turn around to get them mailed out. I usually do like two weeks but got some "feedback" that was too much time for a swap like this. I will have to try to find a happy medium next time ;) I had thought tomorrow was the 3rd but I got mine to the post office tonight. I didn't get it marked on time.... Bad coordinator :(

brunettemusings 05/ 6/2013 #

Whew!! I'm glad you understand though - I'm so paranoid of swaps not getting there, or people thinking I'm a flaker, and getting bad ratings. Eep! I think it worked, but I was just super busy these past couple weeks, so it's partially my fault too - I put too much on my plate. Whoops!
