C+P Altered Art

For this swap we are going to literally alter art: re-design a famous artwork using cut+paste collage and mixed media techniques to create a significantly different piece of artwork.

The original artwork you choose doesn't have to be a 2D painting or illustration - you can use images of statues, assemblages or other 3D installations. It can be a classical artwork or something modern/contemporary.

You can combine multiple pieces from the same or different artists. Chop up a painting and rearrange it. Take parts of a photo montage and create a new one. Put clothes on Michelangelo's David. The swap graphic is a collage by artist Marko Köppe (Die blauen Reiter on Flickr). You can see more examples of his altered artwork in his set Classical Artwork Collages. Minimum size of your finished piece needs to be at least 4"x6". Original collage work only, created on a sturdy substrate, please (no digital collage prints). You can choose to send it naked (as a postcard) or enclose it in an envelope.
