BOM Floral Hand Embroidery #1daffodil

July 6, 2013, thru July 31, 2013

Do you love hand embroidery as much as I do? Lets make one 6 ½ inch block OR LARGER for our partners each month from the list of flowers shown below.

--one 6 ½” block or larger senders choice (100% WHITE cotton fabric)

--one partner each month

Each month we will HAND embroider on a white quilt block a different flower for one partner. Each block should be 6 ½” or larger allowing approximately a ¼” unembroidered space around the outside. Please note that blocks can be whatever colors senders care to make and it doesn’t have to match the sample picture on the swap. Do not embroider a 3 inch flower on the block, try to fill up as much of the 6 ½” space as you can. (REDWORK, BLUEWORK or multi-colored - sender’s choice)

NOTE: recipients may post below if they’d rather have all REDWORK or multi-colored blocks and senders can chose to accommodate or not. Recipients, please be sure to rate according to swap requirements not your color preference.

So remember that just because the sample picture on the swap is all REDWORK or multi-colored that doesn’t mean the block you receive will be as well. This is sender’s choice and they have the option to do one or the other.

Depending on interest there will be 8 total blocks in this series. Recipients may want to put them all on the same project or use each individually.

Here are the flowers:

--daffodil in July

--iris in August

--pansy in September

--peony in October

--poinsettia in November

--rose in December

--sunflower in January

--tulip in February

I will be happy with any and all colors used on my block (except I'd rather not receive a BLACKWORK block).

....I have REDWORK blocks I'm collecting for a quilt, and I use multi-colored hand embroidery blocks on individual projects and sometimes as quilt labels....but don't really have a use for BLACKWORK blocks at this time.

I love Bluework, but anything else is fine, too, including Blackwork!

If my handwork was as nice as you all do, I would join in but.......

ladydy, join us! it doesn't have to be fancy, basic redwork can be as simple as following a line drawing. I trace them onto the fabric with a pencil, and stictch right over it!

I like Redwork for a project I am working on.
