Hurray a fellow BookCrosser! Any particular type of book or should we wait and see what our partners like, I guess they can visit our BC bookshelves, mine is under Littledragon.

I dont get it.....I joined the site but dont undersntad. Is the site just for book reviews or people will send you the books to read?

graydragon 12/ 6/2006 #

Hi Jen, I will try to explain BookCrossing as iy's really fun! each member registers books on the site and they get individual BC CODES. each member also has their own "bookshelf" which is their profile and also has a record of all the books they have registered. You can either "release books into the wild" which means leaving them in a public place for someone else to find or you can swap them with other BookCrossers in person or by post. You can look at other peoples available books and their wish lists and if you have a book they want and they have a book you want you can arrange a swap.

I hope that helps!

there is another site like this called paperbackswap.com if anyone is interested!

user4465 12/ 6/2006 #

I'm sooo excited that you guys are signing up!!! Oh I guess you can see what your partners like or we can post what we like here. What ever works for you guys. I like pretty much anything. I'm not picky. I mostly read crime novels. Like serial killer on the lose kinda things....

Oh also if you have a bookcroosing book in your possestion that you found... send that one. The point of book crossing is to keep those books moving!

I love bookcrossing- I'm emmagoldmanzine, friend me.

This is so awesome that we're doing this. Half the time when I send bookcrossing labeled books to swap partners they don't reguster the book, even when I explain what BC is:( Now the books I send will be registered.

Also, elizabeth4510, papaerbackswap.com and bookcrossing are quite different. On bookcrossing you bascially release books (in various ways) for others to "find" and read and hopefully log in to write about it. On paperbackswap you look for books you want to read, register your books and earn points so you can "buy" books from others. Hope that is a good compare/contrast in a nutshell.

user4465 12/ 8/2006 #

Funkychicken, It's international and you can send a book off your shelf or if you have found one you can send that one. If it's one off your shelf please download the labels or write on the inside as well. I hope I answered all you questions.... ~westie

This site seems kind of like FrugalReader.com or Titletrader.com except w/ a much more random twist to it. Very nice.

Do the books have to be new? Or are used books in good shape okay too? I would be happy personally to get used books, but I am not sure what people's expectations are. (I know for BookCrossing in general used books are fine, but since this is initiated on SwapBot with people who are new to BookCrossing, it seemed worth checking.)

Great to see bookcrossers here! I've joined swap bot too late to take part in this, but maybe there'll be another sometime?
