Description:

So when is the last time you played with your crayons?

This is a challenge for those of you who would like to get back to the basics. We have so many awesome materials to use in the art world today but we forget where it all started!

Remember the new box of Crayolas when you started school! Remember the smell of a fresh box of crayons?

So for this challenge, you will create two ATCs for two partners using crayons only.

Explore different techniques.... you can do washes, but keep the crayon as your main technique. Please stick to crayons that are used in primary grades... like Crayola, Prang, Rose Art. Crayons made from wax or soy. I have found out that there are many crayons out there which is awesome! But for this swap, please stick to the old fashioned crayons!

Up for the challenge?!! Hope you have fun!

Newbies welcome!! (with a well filled out profile)

Can we print off pictures and color them or do they need to be hand-drawn then colored?

Well, I suppose you could color in a picture... but how about challenging yourself a little more?! Just a suggestion! Maybe color in the picture and then create a mosaic or layering effect?

Is it 2 ATC's for each partner or just 2 ATC's (1 for each partner)?

rosecoloredglasses 08/12/2013 #

@Dragon68 just one ATC for each partner! Thanks for asking!

Crazy question. I remember in primary school we kids used to melt the crayons on the radiator (we weren't supposed to but we did). So can we melt some crayons on heavy duty card stock and color the rest in? This is assuming melting them will work and not set the whole ATC on fire. Lol. I'd do it outside using a hair dryer and have a bucket of water ready just in case. ;)

@KraftyKaren .. sounds awesome!! I've seen old fashioned hotplates for sale at Goodwill and wanted to buy one just to do that technique! Great idea!! Have fun! (and be safe!) :)

So sorry for assigning partners so late.... I hate that when that happens!!
