Description:

Am I the only one who finds things handwritten in foreign languages--no matter what kind--to be incredibly beautiful? Yes? No? Eep. In case there are any others out there like me, I'm hosting this swap.

What will you be doing for it, you ask? Simple. Write a letter. At least one sheet of paper, the size of computer paper (you can use smaller stationery, of course, but adjust the length accordingly), full of writing.

And do it in another language. Spanish, French, Czechoslovakian, Japanese, Finnish, Portuguese, et cetera. No English--granted, to some on this site, English is certainly a foreign language, but it's not quite what I'm talking about as far as this goes.

Also, do it by hand. There will only be one partner, and handwriting is generally nicer to receive than something printed from the computer.

Include a translation (this can be from the computer, if you'd like) if you want to continue the correspondence. It's probably a good idea in general, but I won't say that it's 100% required.

This will be an international swap--be aware of that. :D

Swap will be open to newbies and oldbies alike, and rating doesn't matter.

Hello owlsong,

I think your swap to be a nice idea. Unfortunately, the sign up date is quite short. I am german and would love to write a german letter, because I have always to use a foreign language to communicate with swap partners. Is it alright for you? If my partner is from a german speaking country I can try to write a letter in french, but my french is very bad ...

Hey Cosima, I've gone ahead and changed the sendout date--does that work better for you? :)

Also, I do realize that the title of the swap is rather misleading--I shouldn't have said "foreign," but instead "non-english". German would be fine.

I joined for this swap - letters in foreign languages are some my favourite things :)

NB: Although I'm from GB, the letter will be in Hebrew.

I was just wondering about a size clarification... for the computer paper- was that to be one side or both sides? Only I'm using smaller stationary and was wondering how many sheets to use to make up for it^_~ Thanks!

Eruiel, sorry for the delay in answering, but if you can only write one side full (intro letters are tough), that's fine. :D

Awesome! My letter is in Spanish! :D
