Description:

For this swap you send your partner a set of at least 10 handcrafted envelopes you made out of maps. They must be standard letter size and do not necessarily need an address field (your swap partner can stick on blank labels, but you may do it yourself if you feel so inclined). You can use envelope templates or trace an envelope you already have. The flap must have enough space to glue it shut or must be lined with double-sided tape (don't remove the protective paper on one side, we don't want the envelopes stuck shut before we use them). You may add some decorative touches here and there as well. Feel free to get creative.

The envelopes must be sent without creases. So don't fold them to make them fit into the envelope you're sending them in. You may do well to use a flat box or a large envelope for sending the set out.

Ratings of 4.9 and up. No newbies. No recent/unexplained 1s or 3s. Must have successfully completed at least 25 swaps, of which 10 type 3 swaps. I check profiles and ban at my discretion.

Questions in the comments section, or if it's urgent in my inbox. :)

Can the envelopes be folded for sending to partner? I ask because many hosts care and forget to mention it in the swap.

Pouffia 10/15/2013 #

No they can't. Good question, I'll add it to the description. :)

I don't do many envelope swaps so why can't they be folded?

Pouffia 10/15/2013 #

Because it's not nice to send envelopes that have creases in them. I mean, you can fold the flaps so they become an actual envelope, but then don't fold them through the middle or something just to make them fit the envelope you send them in. If we're going to use the envelopes we receive, I take it we want them neat, as if we bought them from a store.

? I have my map printed on a sheet of paper. Fom what I understand, I better leave then flat on the page, and send them inside of an 8-1/2" x 11" envelope. No folds, no stickers.etc. This was someone will be able to do what they want with them so they can enjoy what kind of envelope they enjoy. MiniQuilt

MiniQuilt: No, I think you're supposed to make an envelope out of the map first. Just don't fold the envelope after you've made it (like folding it in half to fit inside another envelope).

@MiniQuilt it's like @digitalmaven says. You have to make an envelope out of the map. But it can't be a map you printed yourself, it has to be an actual map. Like from an atlas or a road map, something like that.

I have sent a hand drawn envelope and folded it to fit to send and I was told never to do that. That is the folds I mean. You must fold to make the initial envelope, but make sure you send it so your partner does not have an extra folds in it.

I'd prefer mine without any decoration, labels, or adhesive added. :)

I don't mind if someone wants to decorate a bit on mine. It's fun to see the different ways people do things. It's given me entirely new ideas for mail art.
