Description:

Like me many of you may be new to making a masterboard and asking yourself what exactly is it. Simply put a masterboard is background you create using stamps and other materials if you choose to. That background can then be used in making other projects such as cards, ATC's, postcards and more. You can color the background of the paper you use (if you choose to) and use different colored inks for your stamps or use only black. There are endless possibilities! The most important thing is to have fun and get creative1 :)

You will have one partner and send to them a masterboard that you create. Please create something nice that you yourself would be thrilled to receive. The theme is senders choice. You will use a 8x10 or 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white cardstock to create your masterboard on. Below you will find several links to some video and blog tutorials that explain how you make a masterboard. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to PM. Have fun!

You must have a 4.95, no ones in the last year and no 3's in the last six months. This will be USA only. If anyone would like to make an international version go for it! :)

Is this to be made using only rubberstamps or collage papers also?

StarryNights 11/ 7/2013 #

@MissPaula - Most of the masterboards I've seen were made have been made by covering the background in some way be that with paints or sprays. I have only seen a few that incorporate collage papers into the background or the design. For this first masterboard I would like to keep it at rubberstamps. However, if you join ask your partner if they would be okay with you using collage papers in your design as well. If they don't mind then go for it.

I hope to do more masterboard swaps in the future as I learn more about them. PM me if you have any further questions. :)

Thanks. I've done either with rubber stamps only or collaged, stamped, painted. Rubber stamps only is fun. I think the last swap I did specified you must use at least 5 different stamps. Do you have a minimum # of stamps?

@MissPaula As I said I'm new to masterboards, but oddly enough I've been making some postcards and art journal pages in a similar fashion to them without knowing it. Hehehe No, I don't have a minimum number of stamps as I didn't really think about that because I figured most people would know from watching the video or looking at the blog tutorials you need to use more than 1.

I am fine with whatever people want to create... collage with ink and/or paint.

I finished mine in a Holiday motif with paint, stamps and ink. No collage. Hope the recipient likes it :)
