So who loves to sew and craft with fabric selvages? Time to increase your variety! For this swap, you'll send a partner 30 inches of clean cotton selvages. Pretty…simple!

  • Manufacturer markings (words, color codes, etc.) required. No plain selvages.

  • Selvages to be 1-2 inches wide/deep and at least 5 inches long. Send 30+ inches total (can be three 10-inch pieces, six 5-inch strips, or different sizes -- your call). Selvages shorter than 5 inches in length can be sent as extras only.

  • Mix ‘em up -- use 3+ different cotton fabrics! Sender’s choice. Have fun!

FYI ☆ I review all profiles. Not expecting issues, but I’m happy to angel if you’re flaked on. Simply let me know after you attempt resolution with your partner but ultimately rate them a 1. Problem Swapper FAQs

Having never made any selvedge projects myself....I'm wondering how many inches of good fabric (total width) is required for it to be usable??

Heirloom 02/ 1/2014 #

The selvage/selvedge should be 1-2 inches wide. I'll add that to the requirements above (thanks). As far as length, it depends on the project. Pin cushions don't take a lot, for example, but quilt blocks certainly can. The link above shows some projects.

Thanks for this swap. I have a good collection to pull from as I started saving them quite a while ago. I used selvedges to make a potholder for a 'polka dot' swap and my swap partner loved it.

I can see how that would be great for polka dots! Glad you joined the swap, Linda!
