Lets have fun on this one!

Lets create an Advent Calendar made with matchboxes You will need to decorate 25 matchboxes. Each matchbox must have the number of the day you are suppose to open the box. Inside each matchbox you will include a surprise. Lets add embellishments, stickers, anything cute that you think your partner will love. You can also include a note inside.

When its time to send the boxes please secure them very well so nobody will get damage boxes. You will use 32-count matchboxes

If you have a rating of 4.8 or more you are Welcome to join Internationals are Welcome

I like this idea lots but how would people feel about making the 25 matchboxes into some sort of drawer arrangement as opposed to 25 loose matchboxes. We could still go mad decorating & filling them. Being bound or glued together might help the boxes to survive the post a bit better.

I know if that's acceptable I would then re-use the drawers and refill for every advent. Yay, new holiday tradition is born!

I've made these for my nieces for Xmas. I use 24 drawers that are glued together in the shape of a Christmas tree. I think they are adorable.

I haven't signed up to this one yet, because I was thinking of a way to put it together rather than have 25 separate boxes.

Plus of course you have the problem of parcelling it up and mailing it too.

Oh the brain needs a rest now ;-)

Here's an example of how to arrange them in a tree. Sorry, I don't know how to do a pretty link in a comment, so you'll just have to cut and paste... http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozrob/1909098528/in/set-72157603903166614/

Does anyone have a suggestion for where to buy the matchboxes on the cheap?

Search for matchboxes and you'll see what they have available...

I will watch this one and see how my time schedule matches up!

I actually just found a package of Match boxes at the local Dollar Tree store. IDK if they are everywhere, but checking the dollar store near you may help!

Are the matchboxes to be stuffed or just a small prize in each and 1 bigger prize in the last?

And I thought advent was 24 days, not 25?

I have a question to the location.. is it international or local? It just says other...

@HeideC Uk and USA celebrate Christmas on the 25 not on the 24th (took me a while to get used to. In my family we still celebrate on the 24th )

man.. people who read clearly have an advantage!!! 2008! not 2009...
