The sisterhood of the traveling pens art journal

A private swap between InstaGals @kataish @murbers @terranoir @sightofthesea and @missthundercat :)

Objective
Each of us will take a blank journal, pocket sized (moleskine pocket or midori passport or something similar) and turn it to a traveling art journal that gets passed around to all of us! In the end we'll have a little journal with various styles of art and doodles and all that good shit for our own to admire :)

You can make your journal themed or leave it wide open for everyone's free expression. Have a lined, blank or squared or whatever type of paged journal is up to the maker. Do decorate the outside of the journal before sending and make sure your info ('This book belongs to: name and address') is somewhere inside the book. If you have a theme, or any specific guidelines, please use the first page of the book to explain them and maybe add welcome message. How many pages each person gets to decorate is up to the maker of the journal (you can specify in the guidelines if you have page limitations due to the size of the book you are sending), but I would think between 3-5 pages(double spread) for everyone would get the book nice and full with all our art/journaling. The maker of the book can also choose to start off the journal with a few pages of her own to get things inspired and rolling :)

Some idea's that can help people get started/inspired (I sometimes have an artistic block with too much freedom so some guidelines might help...):

• ask people to collaborate on a page (for example the middle of the book where everyone adds bits and pieces to the work as it is being sent along like a collab drawing or collage)
• ask a few questions you'd like people to answer
• ask people to draw them something specific

How the sending will work
The way a round robin works, we'll always send to the person before us in the flight schedule and receive from the person behind us to keep things manageable, so no one gets confused who to send to next and who's journal they haven't filled out yet. This way if you keep a turn around of a few weeks no should get stuck with 4 journals at a time. The 'flight schedule' of our journal is (if anyone wants this to change, it is up for debate of course. I based this on location and Kata and I are both international so this way we cover one of the international shipping)

So for example this means that I'll always receive from kataish and always send to terra noir. My full book will come home to me from kataish.

Turn around
I would say that 2-3 weeks to fill out pages for each journal before sending along to the next person, would be sufficient, but this of course can be up for debate. The send by date is a guideline to have your own journal sent out by at least that date. Press send when you have send off your own journal. Please comment in the comments section below when you received someone's journal and when you send off a journal, so we can keep track of it. Sneak peek pics on instagram are fine, but I for one like surprises so no spoilering of the surprises, yes? ;)
