(bad news first--I can only accommodate 7 people, I'm very sorry) Have you seen these optical lens pendants with mini collages underneath the glass??!!! They're so darling! The monocles used in them date back to the late 1890’s – early 1900’s. The collage is hand cut and assembled under the lens using original ephemera and archival inks and materials. The backs are usually covered with decorative papers and then sealed with just about anything....clear embossing powder, gel medium, krazy glue...whatever....to protect the image from water damage and fading. Then they can be strung from a ribbon, pretty yarn, hemp, you name it! So anyway, I am fairly new to swap-bot but I want so much to make one of these pretty pendants for someone that I decided to start my very first swap (be gentle!). So---I realize that these monocles aren't that easy to source so that's why I'm restricting the swap to 5 people--I only was able to find six lenses! So, when you sign up, I will mail you the lens to be used for your creation! I ask that we stick to mini collage and not venture out of that realm, but the theme is totally optional! Want to see examples of these little beauties? Above are some I scavenged from Flickr or check out some for yourself by going to etsy.com and search on "optical lens". Or check out this GGGGreat video for a how to: http://tammypowley.com/?p=173 I'm so psyched! Please sign up soon! |
