Description:

The March 2015 Fandom in a Bag swap is Disney/Pixar/Studio Ghibli.

Step 1: Step 1: Please list in the comments your favorite characters, movies, shows, songs, shorts, or any other preference you may have.

Step 2: After partners are assigned, check to see what your partner likes. You can follow-up with a message if you need to know more. Then scrounge up, buy, and/or create items that fit in a bag. Your bag must contain at least 7 different types of items although more is certainly encouraged (PLEASE try to make it look full). Different types of items means 5 ATCs, 3 pins, 2 postcards would be 10 items but only 3 different types. The swap requirement is for 7 different types in a bag.

Some ideas of themed items: stickers, ATCs, postcards, toys/action figures, comics, note cards, pins/buttons, magnets, jewelry, trading cards, legal music CDs, charms, ornaments, books, bookmarks, address labels, postcards, plushies/stuffies, promo stills/autograph cards, fainfic, zines, etc.

More specific ideas: top ten list of your favorite Disney movies, Mickey/Minnie ears headband, Toy Story piggy bank, themed recipes, Tinkerbell magic fairy dust necklace, a book Belle would read, cars license plates, Ratatouille recipe book, Eve & Wall-E seed packets, balloons, Totoro plushies, Noface mask, yarn/wool dust sprites, dragon naming guide, zine about how to survive if you suddenly find yourself in a Miyazaki world, mini broomstick, cat stuffie/statuette, tribal face/body paint, manga, etc.

Be sure to check your partner's profile so you don't send anything he or she might be allergic to.

Step 3: Put the items in a ziplock-type bag. Size: 1 gallon (measures about 10 inches by 11 inches or 28cm by 26.5 cm). You can decorate the bag or incorporate the bag into something (mount it or sew something around it). If you want to make or buy a bag instead of using a ziplock plastic one, that's fine as well, but it should be at least a gallon in size. All items you gather or create should fit into the bag (if a couple are too big, that's fine).

Assemble your bags during the month of March and please send by the deadline (March 31).

Group rating rules apply. NO FLAKING ALLOWED! Flakers will be banned from the magic kingdom forever.

Disney princesses, tinker bell fairies, monsters inc and monsters university. (Disney owns stars wars now so STAR WARS if that counts) nothing Mickie or minnie mouse.. My fav disney movies are the little mermaid( I love Ariel and Ursula) the lion king (scar is a fav) beauty and the beast... Any Disney villian really... Lol. Finding nemo..

JediLibrarian 02/22/2015 #

Squee!!! I am very excited for this swap. I love Pixar. They have the best movies. My favorite is "UP" I sob like crazy every time I watch it. My hubby and I have dressed up as the characters in the movie several times for Halloween. I feel like their story is ours because we went through the same heartbreak. Kevin is hilarious. I love the house with the balloons.

Next would be Toy Story. It is the only series where I liked every one they made. Buzz, Rex, and Woody are my favorites. I also think the army men are so funny.

Wall-E- Eve and Wall-e so sweet.

Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc are fab as well and I love all the characters.

For Disney I really like Beauty and Beast (my gosh that library), The little Mermaid, Brave (hello Scotland), Cinderella (the coach and slipper), and my all time favorite villain is Malificent. Dudes she turns herself into a dragon! Oh and Tangled is simply the best and my favorite!

I have not watched much on Studio Ghibli. However, I hear so many good things from the teens at my library programs.

The only thing to skip is the traditional characters like Micky and Minnie. And Frozen... It really is a great movie but I have lived it for over a year at the library and I just can't... Let it go... anymore.

JediLibrarian 02/22/2015 #

Oh and does Star Wars count?!! That would be awesome!

Melumebelle 02/22/2015 #

@MsVal313 I think there's a Star Wars swap in April! :D I'm excited for that one myself, haha

Melumebelle 02/22/2015 #

Hello everyone! :D The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Brave, and Sleeping Beauty are my favorites. I don't really like traditional stuff like Mickey or Minnie.

I also LOVE Darkwing Duck! Let's get dangerous! Does anyone else remember that TV show? And Duck Tales! Those were my favorites. :D I have them on DVD!

Studio Ghibli is just plain awesome. I love Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, The Wind Rises, and Spirited Away. I LOVE the soundtrack for Arrietty. I own all of the aforementioned movies except Arrietty and The Wind Rises. Totoro is so cute! :D I have two Kiki's Delivery Service Bento Boxes, and I use them a lot.

Also as I mentioned I love Brave, and my other favorite Pixar film is Up. My mom loves it too, it's one of her favorites! :D

I don't really use pins, but anything else I'm game for! Plushies, posters, books, movies, trinkets, stickers, etc. If you need help/ideas feel free to shoot me a message. (:

Cheers!

Misskrueger1428 02/22/2015 #

I'd like to add gargoyles to my list!!!!!

KateKintail 02/22/2015 #

@Melumebelle Darkwing Duck was the BEST! It was such a huge childhood love of mine :-) Go DW!

ilyak 02/23/2015 #

Hey darlings, so for me my favourite pixar movie is Up!!! I love the house with balloons on it thats my favourite thing to see. I love the adventure book, would love to see some one make some kind of book like that, that would be just the neatest thing! Also the dog is just precious.

I also love Brave, it was a great movie, I don't have the actually movie but i've seen it. I love the three brothers as bears though!!

Ive been in love with monsters inc since i was a child, and I love monsters university just as much!! Mike wazowski is my favourite character!!

The incredibles was such a cute movie too, i love jack jack!!!

Toy story is a huge part of my childhood.

However i would NOT like to receive anything to do with Cars or wall-e im not a fan of them, and would probably not use anything from there and probably reswap them later on, so please dont send, I will be happy with anything i get but those things i probably will not be.

JediLibrarian 02/23/2015 #

Oops! I forgot to mention what I like: I am a button nut. I pin them all over my lanyards at the library. They are great conversation starters with kiddos. Lanyards, plushies, posters, magnets, earrings, whatever!

kiddomerriweather 02/23/2015 #

I'm a Disney freak now that I went in November. My favorite characters are:

  • Maleficent
  • Ursula
  • Ariel
  • Minnie
  • Tinkerbell
  • Anything Star Wars (I have a Chewbacca collection)
  • Figment from Epcot
  • The Haunted Mansion Ride

I'm not a Pixar fan, but as far as Studio Ghibli goes I really dig Soot Sprites. I like Totoro, too. Not the white Totoro though, just the grey one.

I collect plushies (handmade and store bought). I really like the Disney Tsum Tsum plushies. I already have Minnie, but that's the only one I have. You stack them on top of each other, so I would like to have more. I also like POP Funko figures, pinback buttons (1 inch), collectors pins, Teesha Moore inspired patches, tote bags, purses, zippered pouches, scarves, hats, t-shirts (sizes on profile), jewelry, handmade clay figures, quality handmade items, pens, stationery, journals, notebooks, pincushions, kawaii Disney items, embroidery hoop art, etc . . .

These are all just things off the top of my head. I've started collecting ATC's and ACEO's again, so that would be nice as well. I don't have any use for magnets unfortunately (even though I like them). We have a stainless steel fridge and they won't stick to it.

If you have any questions, just PM me. I'm super easy to work with. :)

Oh gosh so Starting of with Studio Ghibli - I am such a huge fan! My friend recently got me into these movies and I can't stop watching them! my Favorite is 'My neighbor totoro', 'Howls moving castle', 'Spirited Away' and 'Princess Mononoke'. My favorite characters are of course Totoro, Calcifur, Turnip head and of course the Soot sprites!

Disney - My all time favorite movie is the Nightmare before Christmas, I watch it every year and am just so obsessed with the animation and songs etc. I'm also in love with the recent Big Hero 6 film. And wreck-it-Ralph.

Pixar - A bugs life, Finding Nemo and Wall-E are like my childhood ! I love these films as well as monsters inc but I almost love all Pixar films, going through an online list I realized I've watched all their films! xD however I'm NOT a big fan of cars or planes, I just really dislike these films.

As far as things to send I honestly don't mind, I don't really have much a collection of anything apart from Pins, So you know just see what you can come up with! Hopefully I've left you a list that you have lots of ideas for but if not don't hesitate to send me a PM! ;)

SneaselKat9 02/23/2015 #

Hello! My favorite Disney is easily Marvel anything! Lilo & Stitch is my favorite animated movie. Other are The Aristocats, Fastasia, The Fox and the Hound, Brave, Wreck-It Ralph, and Big Hero 6! As for characters, Figment is a fave, as well as Ursula, Maleficent, or really any villains

My favorite Studio Ghibli film is Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind, and of course Spirited away! I also rented My Neighbor totoro so many times as a child i couldnt even count! But I havent met a Ghibli film I have disliked!

As for stuff, i can find a use for just about anything! Im just now starting a collection of ATCs, I love pins, I collect figurines myself, etc. I like most things!

My only dislikes would be scraps of things, and Frozen.

I love Haunted Mansion & Hollywood Tower of Terror most Hercules Little Mermaid is pretty good Lion King Maleficent (animated) is my favorite villian

I like Kiki's Delivery Service and Howl's Moving Castle from Studio Ghibli.

I like Pixar, but other than Toy Story (and I suppose Brave), I don't necessarily need any items related to those movies. :)

I like pretty much everything: stationery (especially Japan made items), stickers, washi, buttons/pins, plushies, totes, tee shirts, jewelry, postcards, music, magnets, keychains, mugs, vinyl figures, handmade things, anything from Disney Parks

Watsonc7 02/24/2015 #

So excited about this swap!

  • I love crazy looking llamas (doesn't have to look like the one in the movie, can be a real life one too), so the Emporer's New Groove cracks me up
  • My Neighbor Totoro: looove the dust sprites, all the totoros (I have a plush of the biggest one) and the cat bus
  • Ponyo
  • Big Hero 6: my daughter loves all the different robots
  • Up: Dug the dog and Kevin the bird especially
  • Monsters Inc -- I really like the background monsters more than the main characters, and the Yetti (omg the yellow snow cone lol), eeeeee!
  • Wall-E -- including the little roach pet :)
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas

I'd love a zip pouch, a studio ghibli DVD that you love (Ive only seen/own Totoro and Ponyo), comics, mug rug, figures, TM patch, hoopla, anything else you can come up with. I love quality handmade stuff, so don't feel pressure to spend a lot of money :)

I'd rather not receive clothes, journals (unless it's an Up themed adventure book), or totes...I have tons :)

Melumebelle 02/24/2015 #

@Watsonc7 The Emperor's New Groove is one of my favorite movies of all time! No touchy! ;)

Melumebelle 02/24/2015 #

@KateKintail DW was my FAVORITE TV show (my favorite superhero is Batman.. who would have guessed? :P) and I used to wish I could be his partner. When they canceled the show I actually told my mom I wanted to go to where ever they made the show and protest, lol. :P

Watsonc7 02/25/2015 #

Ooooh I love Fraggle Rock and the Muppets (Pepe the prawn is my fav!) too

KateKintail 02/25/2015 #

Reposting because I forgot stuff. Like many of you, there is a lot in this swap that I love. Here are the things that make the top of my list:

  • Frozen (Especially Sven and Kristoff... I kind of have a crush on Kristoff LOL)
  • 101 Dalmatains
  • The Lion King
  • Winnie-the-Pooh (Especially Eeyore)
  • Sleeping Beauty
  • Darkwing Duck
  • Totoro
  • Howl's Moving Castle

Close to the top of the list:

  • Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers
  • Tale Spin
  • Beauty & the Beast
  • Kiki's Delivery Service
  • Spirited Away
  • Monsters, Inc (haven't seen Monsters University yet though)
  • Disney Park Rides: Haunted Mansion, Teacups, Dumbo, Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Disney LEGO anything
  • Environmental themes in Studio Ghibli movies
  • Gargoyles
  • Gimmi Bears
  • The Shaggy Dog (original 1959) & the Shaggy D.A.
  • Mary Poppins
  • ALL the Disney music from everything!

If none of the above work and you need to throw in Muppets, Fraggle Rock, Marvel, and Star Wars, you can. But hopefully the above, especially my top favorites list, will give you enough to work with. Message me if you have any questions about what I have/don't have or if you need more info. I do have items in my Etsy list if you want ideas about what I like.

PS- I also love mash-ups like Disney-meets Doctor Who or Disney-meets Studio Ghibli ala: Karen Hallion's Art

I have so very many favorites here! I'm a total fan of all the 1960s and early 1970s Disney films - i.e. That Darn Cat!, The Ugly Dachshund, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and many, many more. I also love some of the newer ones. Frankenweenie - need I say more? I love Sparky! Also on the list of favorites are Carl Fredrickson, Russell, Kevin and Dug - all from Up; Bolt; Arthur or Wart from The Sword in the Stone; all of the characters from Sleeping Beauty, although my favorites there are Flora, Fauna, Merrywether and King Stefan; Sulley from Monsters, Inc.; and the Parr family from The Incredibles (as well as Edna Mode!). I love Brave - one of the best family films in ages! I love the newer Maleficent, and the twist to the tale that it brings. My absolute favorite of all time is the 2010 release of The Sorcerer's Apprentice - I love every character and every plot twist - and the idea that a gangly backward geek can be the most powerful wizard ever! I could go on and on. I like most everything here, but I think I've listed most of my favorites.
