Description: | |
Zines -taken from "magazines" or "fanzines"- are small, self-published booklets. Usually, they are made and then duplicated using photocopiers or home printers. Zines can be black & white or color. There are many ways to fold, staple and bind various zine formats. Zines can be any subject and any style: fiction, non-fiction, visual art, tutorial, poetry, comics, cartoons, mixed media, photography. Layouts can be created by hand or digitally. You are the author and editor! The contents, style and subject are up to you! For this swap, you will make a mini-zine, using an 8-page fold, quarterfold design or comparable design and send it to three partners. If you have a zine of your own work already completed, you are ready to swap! I putting this one up as USA only to save on postage. Two basic zine patterns you can use are here: clink link This example [minus the color pages] is a quarter-fold pattern zine I created [8 pages from one two-sided photocopy] comic tutorial. Pages 4 -5 are the center and the art is across both pages. Click here to view. You can also find zines for sale online, at independent book stores and comic book shops. They are fun to trade and collect. I think they are fun to make! Join in whether you are new to zines or have prior experience. I will angel any missing swaps. Please send me a message with any questions. A message helps since it is faster.
