I love this idea. Way too many ATCs are created using readymade store embellishments and a commercialized idea, scheme, layout (i.e. sepia photos of people with glued on party hats).....nothing original

I love making ATC's out of recycled stuff! They are much more quirky and as Robin says original. I hope that this will become a regular swap :-)

This swap is a great idea. I think it would be fun if each person would include a short explanation of what they used and how they put it together. I have seen somethings and thought "what the heck did they use to do that?"

AngieTheArtist 08/26/2008 #

Yes, I think this is going to be fun. Moonspider, I should have put that in the swap description but I didn't. I do plan to an explanation myself. I don't want to change the original description because i have seen complaints about that on the public forums. I may like to do these recycled atc swaps regularly. Maybe we will do a Christmas themed one. That would be so much fun!

This may be a silly question but recycled material can be scraps of paper saved from the trash and whatnot, correct? I just want to make sure you don't mean only recycled paper products.

Oh, I mean anything that was meant for the trash. For instance, while dumpster diving, I found some bright yellow tulip paint. I would feel comfortable using that on my atc, but would not be able to go purchase new paint and use it.

Also, I had someone pm me about whether or not they could use glue. Yes, I should have included tthat in the swap directions and didnt'. I appologize for not including it.

I actually found a lot of markers and stickers too, but, I don't want to use too many things that would make it look like I went shopping to make them.

This will be my first ATC swap and I have never made one. Here's hoping it will be okay

I've never made one either but I ordered some ATC papers from Etsy that were made from old time clock sheets. I also grab things from the trash. I'm sort of a scavenger of pretty craft pieces but never had a real use for them. Now I do! I think we should do these sort of swaps for the group regularly.

Thanks Angie for hosting this! Cheers xx
