I have just begun dabbling in the pocket letter craze, and I love it! So, for all of you who want to join in the pocket letter craze, have already dabbled in it, or are perhaps experts by now, here is a swap for you. And yes, even if you have never created a pocket letter before, now is your chance to try! Pocket Letters were created early this year by Janette Lane; basically, for a general pocket letter, you use a 9 pocket trading card protector page and fill all 9 pockets with ATC sized decorated cardstock, tucking little goodies inside the pockets, too. Usually a letter is included in one of the pockets, too. Here is a link to Janette Lane's basic pocket letter tutorial: http://janettelane.blogspot.com/2015/02/how-to-make-pocket-letter.html She typically uses pretty cardstock and decorates them (or the outside of the pocket protector page) a little, but she usually uses the goodies tucked inside as part of her decoration. Most of the folks I have swapped with on here decorate the cardstock and/or outside of the page protector and put the goodies in the back. Either way is fine as long as there are planner related goodies in (front or back -- just someone in) the pockets and as long as the front of the cards/page is decorated. Also, make sure the back is not just plain white -- no need to decorate the back, but use two sided card stock, so that the back is still pretty when the goodies are pulled out, or (if your card stock isn't two sided) use pretty paper on the back. Some folks keep these pocket letters in a binder, so when the goodies are removed, they want even the backs to be pretty looking in their binder. As far as the decoration of the pocket letter, let's keep it pretty open to interpretation, but somehow planner related. Feel free to use any colors. Not all pockets have to have a planner theme, either. However, try to have a planner theme in the decorations somehow. So I might use white, gold, and teal as my primary colors and all pockets be decorated in those colors, but on three or four pockets, I might use to-do lists, date stamps, or even calendar pages as part of the decoration. Be creative. Have fun! This Planner Themed Pocket Letter should contain stationary goodies that can be used for your planner, tucked into 8 pockets. The 9th pocket should contain a short note from you; be sure to include this group, swap name, and your swapbot name. For the other 8 pockets, think of flatter items like cute shaped paperclips, page flags, washi samples, sticky notes, decorative stickers, functional stickers and other planner goodies. Here's a link to Janette Lane's Planner Themed Pocket Letter you can use as a guide if you don't know where to start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUIQaL6ji3E&feature=youtu.be Even if you have never created a pocket letter, I hope you will give this swap a try. I am allowing for ample time to sign up as well as craft your pocket letter. In Summation Send 1 partner a planner themed pocket letter Take 9 pocket trading card protector page and fill it with ATC sized papers Decorated those papers (loosely around a planner theme) Make sure the back of the pages are pretty, too (not decorated, just pretty paper) Tuck in planner related goodies into 8 pockets The 9th pocket contains a note from you The picture for this swap is from Janette Lane's Planner Themed Pocket Letter Tutorial. |
