Description:

This is my first time hosting a swap, so I hope it goes well! If there is anything you are not sure about please contact me!

I know a lot of people get a bit down at this time of the year so I have decided to create a box of sunshine (with a twist) swap to brighten your day! If it goes well I hope to host similar swaps in the future.

For this swap you will choose one colour and send your partner a small package filled with gifts and items in that colour. I understand that different people have differenet budgets so you can send your package in a box or envelope of any size, however you must send AT LEAST 5 different bought or homemade items in your chosen colour (You may send more if you wish). Again, these items can be any size or cost that you choose, but they must be 5 different things (eg. sending 5 stickers doesn't count as 5 different items).

This swap is sender choice (sender chooses the colour theme and the gifts) so you can start preparing your packages now. However, it might be nice to wait and see your partner's profile to see if they have a favourite colour, or have any likes that you can incorporate into your colour theme. But this is not a necessity! Please rate your partner as a 5 if they have sent you a colour themed package with at least 5 items in it, even if it's not to your taste or preferences!

You can choose any colour you like - yellow, red, blue, green, pink, purple, black, white, orange, or any other you can think of as long as you can get at least 5 items in that colour. Each item does not have to be completely one plain colour, as long as the main/majority colour matches your theme.

Suggestions of gift ideas (but i'm sure you can think of better ones too!); • Badges/ Key Rings/ Magnets • Sticker Sheets • Stationary/ Envelopes/ Paper/ Note Cards/ Notebooks • Books/ DVDs/ CDs • Pens/ Pencils • Postcards • Bookmarks • Tea Bags/ Hot Chocolate Sachets/ Coffee Sachets • Socks/ Gloves/ Hats • Bags/ Purses/ Wallets • Jewellery/ Ear Rings/ Bracelets/ Etc • Hair Accessories / Clips/ Bands/ Bobbles/ Etc • Make Up/ Eye Shaddow/ Lip Gloss/ Etc (Make up itself OR packaging can be your chosen colour) • Chocolate/ Sweets/ Candy/ Etc (packaging in your chosen colour) • Decorations/ Baubles/ Wall Decorations/ Ornaments • Craft Items/ Washi Tape/ Buttons/ Sequins/ Ribbons/ Fabric/ Etc

Newbies welcomed, with a well filled out profile (I will check and ban if necessary). No recent/unexplained low ratings. If you know of a bad swapper signed up for this swap, please inform me by private message and i will look into it.

Hi! This is a thoughtful and lovely swap. As a first time host however, I'd strongly recommend reviewing this post in the forums when it comes time to vetting your participants and thinking about your minimum rating (and what it means). Happy swapping!

Thanks for the tip! It's been noted! :)

Just in case, my favorite color is Teal.

I'm interested. I think it would be helpful to have a price range. I think it would make it more likely to be a fair trade.

CookieChops 01/28/2016 #

Thanks Peach, does anyone else have any comments on this? About using a price range?

I was mainly thinking because the swap is international, people don't have the same currency, etc. I'm from the UK but on other swaps most people put their price ranges in dollars, which makes it a bit confusing for me. Plus people have different budgets, some may want to send only the minimum of 5 items, but others may want to go over the top and send more. However, if anyone has any opinions please share and i will alter the description next time!

Momskii 01/28/2016 #

I agree with you about the budget. I have many items to send that I have made and would have no idea about how to price them. I usually stay away from swaps that have a budget price to them. Most (not all) swappers usually send more than what is asked for in the swap.

noname13 01/28/2016 #

as this is your first swap to host, you don't have much experience on swapbot and it's a type-3-swap I would suggest not to allow unrated swappers. it's difficult even for experienced hosts to sort out questionnable newbies and it's really disappointing when you spend time and money for your swap and you don't get anything in return.

concerning the price range: perhaps you can make two swaps: one for homemade things only without a price range and another one for storebought things with a price range. and for the different currency: take the GBP you want to set and use a currency converter to convert this to EUR and USD. Give these 3 numbers and people with other currency have to use a converter on their own.

Thanks for your opinions regarding the price range. I'll leave this swap as it is for now but might alter it if I do a similar swap again in the future.

Will you angel any flaked swaps?

CookieChops 02/ 5/2016 #

I will do my best to angel, although i may be restricted to what i can send due to postage costs.

If anyone else is willing to volunteer to angel if necessary, i would be greatful.

devilspigeonhole 02/ 9/2016 #

Let me be very, very blunt:

@CookieChops - why would someone volunteer to angel when you have no required or minimum rating for this swap?

I for one, take the swap description (clear swap description, rating requirement, etc.) and the host into consideration when considering to angel a package swap. My argument being that if a host doesn't give a d*mn, why should the SB community clean up after them?

CookieChops 02/11/2016 #

Hi @devilspigeonhole thanks for your comment.

I have said in my previous comment that i will angel, i was simply considering that the majority of swappers are from the USA. I am from the UK and therefore postage is very expensive, especially if i start sending multiple packages. Postage from the the US to the US is likely to be less expensive than from the UK to the US. I am not expecting anyone to angel, but if someone was kind enough to angel it would be great, if not i would still angel any swaps neccessary, but the package may be smaller and have less included than i would like to send.

I am hoping that angeling will not necessary for this swap, although i am aware that this is not guaranteed. The swap does have a rating requirement and the participants are all within this rating, unless they have contacted me directly. I have also contacted newbies and suspicious swappers, and i will remove anyone if necessary before i assign partners.

Thanks for you support on my first swap :)

devilspigeonhole 02/11/2016 #

@CookieChops - a rating requirement is always very important on package swaps (or a min. amount of Type 3 swaps) to weed out people that will take advantage of you being a new host to get something for nothing, so it's great that you decided to go with one. :)

Along the same lines, allowing unrated swappers into a potentially expensive swap isn't a very good idea, like @noname13 mentioned in a previous comment.

I know it looks like I'm trying to spoil the fun, but if the swap goes 'wrong' it will leave you (and other swappers) very disappointed. :(

CookieChops 02/12/2016 #

@devilspigeonhole i really do appreciate your support, any comments and tips are going to help me out and give me more experience! :)

If anybody does need an angel, please attempt to contact your partner first and then rate them a 1 before getting in touch with me and i will arrange for you to be re-sent a parcel :)

Avi 02/12/2016 #

CookieChops 02/13/2016 #
