A.I.: Thumbprint Art Stationery

Have any of you tried thumbprint art? I used to do it with my kids. It's lots of fun and the results are really cute!

You'll be creating a "set" of 8 pieces of stationery for your partner with your own thumbprint design on each sheet.

Here's what to do

• start with an 8.5" x 11" piece of white (or light-colored) paper

• turn your paper sideways and draw a pencil line down the center giving you two areas for design (5.5" x 8.5" each)

• get out an inkpad!

• create two unique thumbprint art borders or accents on each page (one in each design area) You'll be using your finger/thumbprints as part of your design; finish your designs using markers.

• copy your page 4 times

• cut your sheets along the pencil line and you'll have 8 pieces of personalized stationery to send to your partner!

You might choose to create a finger/thumbprint ladybug border on your stationery, or some finger/thumbprint fish swimming along the top of your pages. You might put one fingerprint cat or dog in the upper left corner and create a swirly border around the page using markers. Design is totally up to the artist.

PLEASE NOTE: The photo accompanying this swap is just a page of examples. Your stationery should be blank in the middle and embellished with your thumbprint art only at the top/bottom/sides/border so your partner will be able to use the stationery.

Most important element? Having fun with this simple technique.
