Description:

Do you like sending and receiving packages? Are cookies your JAM? This is the swap for you!

The Gishers of Letters are proud to present Cookie Correspondence. In this swap, each person will prepare and send one box of cookies to one partner following these rules:

  1. You must check your partner's profile for allergies and avoid those things when making your cookies. Be really careful with this. Also, make sure your own allergies are listed on your profile along with flavors you like and don't like.

  2. Your package must contain at least a half dozen servings of cookies. This phrasing means that if you send, oh, a cookie cake you don't have to include six cookie cakes.

  3. Include a note, letter, card, or some other form of communication that tells your swapmate what kind of cookies these are and what's in them.

  4. You don't have to bake these yourself, but if you do buy make sure you buy yummy freshly made bakery cookies that will ship well and get an ingredient list. No "big box" cookies like Chips Ahoy- none of us want to do a nice baking session and get Oreos in return. You can, obviously, use a cookie mix or dough if you're baking at home. Just make it special.

  5. Package your cookies well. If you're sending internationally you'll have to go to the post office to fill out a customs form, but it's not a huge deal. I've personally done it loads of times, it's easy. This article is aimed at military packages but has some good advice. http://militaryoneclick.com/5-tips-for-sending-baked-goods-overseas/

  6. With international shipping and cookie baking, this swap could cost up to £20 (about $28 USD). Obviously if you get a local partner that will be lower, but since you won't know who your partner is you should be prepared.

  7. Have fun! Make cookies you'd like to get, and package them up nicely so your partner has a good surprise. Half the fun is imagining the smile you're giving someone.

Remember, if you don't have any allergies listed on your profile your partner has nothing to avoid when baking. If that's a problem, update your profile!
