Description:

If you've been to a Yarn Harlot (http://www.yarnharlot.com) talk, or read her book, you'll probably be familiar with the concept of emergency knitting/crochet.

An emergency knitting/crochet kit is a small bag, just big enough to contain the small set of supplies to get you out of the situation where you don't have any knitting/crochet, but have a tonne of time to sit. DMV, Doctors office, unexpected traffic delay. Any stressful situation where just be able to grab up this wee bag and start a small project is enough to drain away the stress.

The minimum value for this swap is $20, as a good knitting/crochet kit should contain at minimum some yarn and the needles to knit/crochet it with.

You will have one swap partner, who will post in this thread if they are a knitter or a crocheter. If you have any yarn allergies, please also post that here.

You must have successfully completed at least one swap, and should not have a profile of less than 4.8. No no-sends in the last 6 months. Please contact me via PM if there's anything about a rating or no-send that you want to discuss.

(Edited to add that this is an international swap - it should be a relatively inexpensive postage package.)

Edited to add - I've extended by one week, to allow people extra tie to get their packages out.

What a fun swap!! I am a knitter. : )

purplewhimsy 09/25/2008 #

I knit and crochet, but knitting is what I really love! I hardly ever crochet any more, and I really do need an emergency kit on hand!

ladybree 09/25/2008 #

Great idea! I like to knit. You can never have too much yarn or too many needles or notions ;)

I'm a knitter, no allergies.

lizunstoppable 09/26/2008 #

Do we make a small bag and then put in yarn, needles, and a pattern?

amandapage 09/26/2008 #

You can make the small bag if you'd like, or buy it. I can't sew to save my life, so I'll be buying a wee bag.

Amanda, this is an awesome idea for a swap! Can't wait! I'm a knitter and a crocheter, but I too prefer to knit in the various waiting rooms! No allergies!

have not read the book - just discovered her from your link above. How small a bag? Just big enough to contain the needles and yarn etc? Anyway, I am a knitter and I cannot use mohair my hands and nose hate it!

amandapage 09/29/2008 #

Yep, just big enough to contain needles, yarn, etc. It's like a little emergency first aid kit for knitters/crocheters - something to pick up if you find yourself without knitting.

Hi all, I am a crocheter but am learning to knit. I have an emergency crochet kit but really need an easy knit emergency kit. This is a great swap idea!

I knit mostly, wool or cotton or a blend is good. No allergies.

I am a crocheter. I'm allergic to wool so I need to stick with cotton or acrylic yarn.

Hi I do both! No allergies. Dislike squeaky acrylic (sets my teeth on edge!) & cotton (feels too dry on my hands) This is such a cool idea. Thank you mine hostess!
