Recently a penpal of mine sent me the coolest little zine. Before that I had never seen one before. I'd heard of them but never seen one. It gave me the idea of creating a Zine swap for newbies to the art like me. This will be a super easy zine swap and you can participate even if you feel like you have no artistic talents. The zine for this swap should be created from one sheet of 8½ x 11 paper. After folding/creating it according to the picture above you will have 8 sections to fill. The cover, the back and 6 interior pages. I am going to make this easy and predefine what should be in each sections so that those new to zines can have fun with this too. This is based on the zine I got from my friend. I totally loved her idea!! Parts of the Zine: Cover: Title of the zine. You can name it the "Whatcha Doing Now" if you want to or something else. This is basically a getting to know you type zine so be creative. -- decorate the front with drawings or washi tape or stickers..whatever ----- Date you made the zine and swap ID. Page 1: Recent Things I Have Done Page 2: By The Numbers ( examples: I lost # weight, I have # kids..etc. Page 3&4: One of your favorite EASY recipes Page 5: Projects in Progress ( can be swap bot or other related) Page 6: Something I'd like to learn or something I am learning Back cover: Things I got from _______. (example: shopping trip, thrift shop haul, vacation) Each page should be decorated in some form. With doodles, flourishes, washi tapes, stickers, what-have-you. Final Directions: Open the zine ( unfold it) and on the blank back -- write your swap partner a note telling them hello and something about you. Like an introduction. I am making this international since this is a simple LIGHT swap that will fit in an standard envelope. Please be aware that you may end up with a partner not in the USA or Europe (depending on where you are..hahhaahaha) Thanks!! Here is a video to teach you how to create the zine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq32y_7dKw Don't seal the edges since you will be opening it to write a note.. hahaha |
