Description:

The April 2017 Fandom in a Bag swap is Doctor Who.

Step 1: Please list in the comments your favorite characters, doctors, baddies, companions, shows, episodes, moments, or any other preference you may have.

Step 2: After partners are assigned, check to see what your partner likes. You can follow-up with a message if you need to know more. Then scrounge up, buy, and/or create items that fit in a bag. Your bag must contain at least 7 different items although more is certainly encouraged (PLEASE try to make it look full).

Some ideas of themed items: stickers, ATCs, postcards, toys/action figures, comics, note cards, pins/buttons, magnets, jewelry, trading cards, charms, ornaments, books, bookmarks, address labels, postcards, plushies/stuffies, promo stills/autograph cards, fainfic, zines, etc.

More specific ideas: time travel survival kit, mini TARDIS, prop replicas, homemade guide to the Whoverse, Gallifreyan calendar, 50th anniversary swag, scarf or bowtie, etc.

Be sure to check your partner's profile so you don't send anything he or she might be allergic to.

Step 3: Put the items in a ziplock-type bag. Size: 1 gallon (measures AT LEAST 10 inches by 11 inches or 28cm by 26.5 cm). You can decorate the bag or incorporate the bag into something (mount it or sew something around it). If you want to make or buy a bag instead of using a ziplock plastic one, that's fine as well, but it should be at least a gallon in size. All items you gather or create should fit into the bag (if a couple are too big, that's fine).

Assemble your bags during the month of April and please send by the deadline (April 30).

Group rating rules apply. NO FLAKING ALLOWED! Flakers will be parked in front of a weeping angel.

My favorite Doctor is the 10th Doctor and my favorite Companion is Amelia Pond.

My favorite villains are the Adapose and Weeping Angels.

My favorite episode is Are You My Mummy.

The 10th Doctor is my Doctor. But you can't really go wrong with anything Doctor Who with me. I have a Doctor Who themed bathroom, so I always appreciate bathroom-related items or clocks (one wall is slowly being covered with clocks, all set to different times; the clocks don't even have to work).

I'm also making my way through the whole series. I'm on the 4th doctor at the moment (though hoping to be on the 5th by the end of the month). And every time one of them leaves, I'm sad all over again. I really adored Jamie and liked Ben a lot too (and I'll always have a soft spot for Susan, Barbara, and Chesterton). I'm currently getting a kick out of Leela (and K9, of course!). It's been great seeing some of the doctor's enemies for the first time and getting to know his different quirks for each regeneration. So I guess I'm trying to say that anything in the classic DW eras would be fine as well. I just love the whole concept of the show (and the TARDIS, naturally). The whole whoverse is your oyster.

But you still can't beat Donna or Captain Jack Harkness as companions in my book ;-) And the weeping angels will always scare me!

My favorite all-time doctor is the Eleventh Doctor. But, of course, I love them all! I like the First Doctor – because he was the first. I like the Second Doctor because he had some cool adventures, and the Hobo Doctor was, after all, very eccentric (but I suppose they all are!). I like the Third Doctor because, even though he was Earth-bound, his adventures mirror the type of adventures the Avengers had around the same time (the Patrick Macnee, and especially Diana Rigg Avengers, not the Marvel Avengers). I like the Twelfth Doctor because he’s current.

Things I like – anything TARDIS, any flashlights, any figures (except the Funko Pop – big head ones).

My favorite monsters are the Daleks, the Weeping Angels, and the Silurians (especially Madame Vastra).

Favorite companions are Amy and Rory, and I loved when Rory’s dad was a pseudo-companion of sorts (love Mark Williams!). But I also like Susan, Ian and Barbara (hope their new world after their return to Earth was fun!), Jamie McCrimmon, Sarah Jane Smith, Zoe Heriot, Dodo Chaplet, and Vicki. I love Liz Shaw, then was sad when she was gone, but grew to love Jo Grant – and with them, I liked Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. But then again, they were companions to the oddest Doctor, the one who stayed on Earth. I like Sarah Jane Smith and Captain Jack Harkness, but I don’t feel I know them very well. Likewise with Rose Tyler – believe it or not, the Tenth Doctor episodes are some of my least watched – not out of choice, but just out of circumstance. I’ll have to watch them all again someday. I love Craig Owens – don’t know whether he was actually designated as a companion, but he acted like one in a couple of episodes (The Lodger and Closing Time). I thought Craig and the Doctor were hilarious in Closing Time, when everyone in the store kept thinking they were “married with children.”

Well, needless to say (after a lot of rambling), I’m very easy to please, and don’t have a lot of Doctor Who stuff, so really anything will please me. I love home-made stuff, fan fiction, made up games, etc., as well as things on the market.
