Hi,

You say sifferent......different from what? I'm a bit confused by that.

Thanks, BrendaLea aka prpldy

jewels1 03/ 8/2007 #

prpldy, I think she just means unusual or unique.

SaReMa 03/ 8/2007 #

tks Jewels...that's right...we normaly make or buy simple, "rectangular" scarfs, some longer than others, but every and each one of them are similar... This swap is to make exactly the opposite of that... we have to use our imagination and come up with one original scarf

For my partner's potential reference (I know it's not in the guidelines to post preferences, but just in case it helps ;)), it'd be awesome to get something recycled from thrift store stuff (a piece cut out of an old sweater, skirt, tablecloth, or bedspread?), or handwoven. Something light and airy would also be great, since I live in Florida. Hand-knit lace or a silk scarf would be neat for something light, especially if the silk is recycled from something else (and it's cheaper that way, too ;)). Oh, and I'm allergic to angora, in case you come across it in your search for cool scarf materials.

Thanks! :D

Hi JeweledClaws! Everyone can refer their preferences, but bare in mind that may be some people who cannot find somethings...make it simple, nice to wear, meaning you'd wear it, but different! ;o)

inamerica8 03/ 9/2007 #

Couldn't it be a rectangular scarf, but the surface design/texture be different?

SaReMa 03/12/2007 #

that's up to you to decide...make it different...use your imagination...make it the way you know best...

This swap is right up my alley. I've been on a scarf making roll lately. Just a suggestion...I've been buying large lady dresses/skirts at Goodwill (made out of cool fabric of course) and I can get 2-3 scarves out of one dress or skirt. A great way to recycle and pretty cheap too.

I'm new here, and I don't have any ratings yet. Is it ok for me to participate? (I have a scarf that fits this pretty well)

azureskyz 03/29/2007 #

Ohh.. I am excited. I am a newbie. But, I have been on a roll of recycling yarns from garage sales, flea markets etc. You'd be surprised the beautiful yarns. I signed up and am looking forward to making mine!

Hi everyone! I'm glad you are all enjoying this swap. Just an FYI for you all, I've created another SCARF swap, in case you're interested, HANDMADE SCARF: - http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/3045

Visit and participate, if you want!

user6452 04/ 9/2007 #

Yikes! I was sure I'd be sending early, since the scarf was all but done shortly after the swap started, but have had a touch of flu, followed by car trouble, then Easter and company, and now find I'll be mailing right on the deadline. Yooper Hill, the scarf will be going out this afternoon or tomorrow morning, never fear. I hate that even though it'll be within the deadline, I feel late. LOL

Sorry for the slowness, but know it'll be there soon.

Silverwings/Kate, your package went out today, and I also received my package from Toni today - a really sweet crocheted scarf in black and reds/browns/greens - I haven't taken it off since it arrived. :)

She also included a darling little bonus hat - my three year old claimed it for his very own. Thank you!

Thanks to sandramatos for hosting such a fun swap!

Bearynice 04/12/2007 #

SaReMa 04/13/2007 #

Hi Marnel! I just received your scarf today, in the mail...I'm already wearing it, as I'm wearing colours that match...eheheh. It's lovely, and I don't have any other like this! Thanks a bunch! Sandra

I just hope that mine has arrived safely!

user960 04/13/2007 #

Got my scarf from Sandra -- and it's super-cute. :D I don't have any like that, and my Significant Other even likes it. It works really well for our short little cool spells in Florida, too! Thank you muchly!

user7250 04/14/2007 #

Ellen, just so you know, you were my partner. (Sorry I forgot to say this in my first post)

user7250 04/16/2007 #

Smartcakes---I absolutley love the scarf you sent! It was waiting for me at the postoffice this morning.

user6452 04/16/2007 #

Ellen, the scarf arrived this afternoon, and I thank you so much! I'm actually ill today, so my son went to get the mail, and it was a very pleasant note to an unpleasant day when he came in with this scarf -- a curly whirly! I've admired these on some of the blogs I visit, and I love the ribbon yarn you used. Thank you very much!
