Teacups & Roses Matchbox Fill

A++++++ on the newbie rule! Time to crack down!

i'm not a newbie, but i don't think the newbie rule is fair... :\ people should be given a chance! have faith in the good :)

all you have to do is give some sort of reference.not too hard. and yeah the newbie rule IS fair because good swappers are tired of newbies coming in and scamming people over. it is usually hosts who HAVE had faith in newbies that have to start that rule because in previous swaps they have been screwed over by newbies!

~I vouch for the newbie rule~ I just hosted the Bodacious Bellydancing swap, and a newbie said she wants to play, so of course, being the kind person I am, let her join, she did not send her swap, had the nerve to tell me she did not receive anything, and then deleted her post...... I am replacing her swap to her partner, because I think it is unfair to her partner. I will not receive an extra rating for replacing a swap, and that is not the point. I trusted her, and her partner got burned, so I am fixing it. I feel responsible because this was my swap.

I am feeling a bit beside myself with stress over my decision to not allow newbies in my swaps unless they can provide references or have a rating of 4 and up...

I KNOW that it is not fair to those newbies who are sincere and have no intention of screwing people over. I know that everyone deserves a fair chance and that newbies cannot become a good swapper if not given a chance to prove themselves.

The problem is, I have no idea of knowing who the "good guys" and the "bad guys" are. :( I just know that I cannot afford to always be angelling all the swaps that do not get sent to people, and I can't keep allowing those who DO send out great swaps to keep getting burned. THAT is not fair to them, either.

I do not want to make anyone feel bad, and I do not want this to turn into something ugly. I was more than kind in all of my previous swaps, and I allowed MANY newbies to join. Unfortunately, many of them took advantage of my kindness and trust in them and that is why I have been forced to make this decision.

I suppose that I COULD make two seperate swaps for each thing I do in the future... one for established good swappers, and one for "newbies" to be able to build themselves a good rating. I will think on it.

Hi there! I'm so excited about this swap- I've only been swapping for a couple of months and wanted to give my "still feeling like a newby" opinion- it is so easy to get good ratings and there are so many easy, quick swaps to join that no one should ever feel guilty about putting tougher requirements on their swaps- I feel like it's something to look forward to- or something to work your way up too- especially the more involved swaps like this. So now that I've paid my dues- I'm signing up for this one!!!

Plenty of roses - not a lot of teacups...

went shopping for stuff yesterday. Thought it was going to be really hard, but maybe 'cos it's near Mothers Day in the UK, there was quite a lot of rose stuff about. Not many teacups though. So I bought some roses and now can now search around for more teacup stuff

Have my box already to decorate too!

Some examples of teacup items could include: stickers, charms, papers, buttons, brads, etc.

There is alot of that sort of thing on ebay and also, Walmart carries that stuff in the craft dept. Not sure if you have Walmart over there, though...

I have been decorating my matchbox this week ( nearly done and nearly full, but want to try to get another goodie to add to it).

mwquilt..i have the same problem like u.so many roses,but aaargh,so had to find anything with teacups.the normal ones yes,but miniature or teacup themed is hard hard hard.i will look in every nook and cranny in my town for it this weekend!pray for me LOL

Do you have a Michaels or any other craft store near you? You can find all kinds of teacup items there such as stickers, charms, buttons, etc. Another place I have found them is at Walmart in the crafts section... and e-bay. I hope this helps! :)

err..i dont have Michaels or walmart or even a proper craft store in my hometown..i'll keep looking though coz i have u as my partner Melody =)

Even the big hobbycraft and stitching shows that I went to last week had hardly any teacups and some of what they did have was not very nice.

Quite a few teapot bits, but teacups are much harder.

I got a couple of things though..and now my box is very full.

Just to say that I sent my package to my partner Moline by airmail today. Not sure how long it will take to Mexico, but to the USA it normally take about 10-14 days.

received a beautiful package from Lori Eb today....wonderful collaged and painted box, simply crammed with goodies which will be super for future art and needlework projects. Lori must have spent ages getting together the stuff and I really appreciate the consideration. Also, a big skein of very tactile fibres which are a most welcome and unexpected additon to my fibre collection for art and crazy quilting. Thankyou for making this a great swap experience!
