I make awesome collages and I get professionally printed ACEOs of my favourite finished pieces.

Would these count?

Brash. Egocentric.

You know, this is a really rude post. First of all, some artists also have children and are capable of multiple roles. Some take the needs of their kids seriously as well as their art. Some people are older, out of college, have learned to spell words like ceramic, and have lives with many different things going on. As you get older and continue with ATC trades, and I hope that you do- you will see that there are always differences in quality, technique, approach. Some make great cards, some make things with store bought stickers. If you are concerned about this, blind swaps are simply not for you and that is really what swap bot is- blind swaps with an element of surprise. Why not do what many artists do and trade in your personal circles, in private networks, among people whose work you admire. This is really the tradition of ATCs.

PS You should learn to spell basic art terms before you presume to judge a community. Just saying.

I totally agree with LynnA! If you just want a certain kind of work on your ATC's you could have very easily asked for "hand-drawn or painted only" like so many other ATC coordinators do. Then you won't have to worry about "stickers, scrapbooks, soccer, moms, etc. But also keep in mind that there are "soccer moms" out there that can paint real works of art! Hope this swap works out for you!

Art is the process or product of deliberately and creatively arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions, especially beauty.

To create is ART!!!

NO matter how you do it.........just create!!!

Very rude post indeed!!

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one to find this offensive. I make hand drawn ATCs that get plenty of compliments. I will not be joining this swap though as it really is inappropriate the way that you've gone about things here.

CSNYfan 11/22/2008 #

Certainly this is your swap and you can word the swap info however you want, but this does come across as rude and abrupt. I think I know what you want from this swap, but the way you worded it is probably not going to get you a very good response. By the way, I don't think I am yet ready to do the kind of work you are looking for, but I do think that the vast majority of people on SB do quality work -- everything I have received thus far has been great. So, in short, perhaps you should rethink your wording and think a bit about how the wording you used makes other swappers (who put out wonderful, quality work that may not be quite up to the professional artist standards I think you are seeking) feel.

Wow...just when you think you have seen and heard it all.....

Ruuuuuude!!

Erna 11/24/2008 #

Funny how touchy we are... c'mon, ladies! Lighten up! ;-D

One needs to be very brave and sure of your talent to join this swap - so I'm in! (giggle)

CSNYfan 11/24/2008 #

Not touchy, just want reasonably non-insulting swap descriptions. The "touchiness" has nothing to do with being sure or unsure of your talent, it has to do with being respectful of those who have day jobs, take care of kids, or put out quality work that isn't up to a professional artist par. And no, I don't have kids, I'm not a soccer mom, I don't do scrapbook style ATCs or use stickers, really. But that's not the point.

Binky 11/24/2008 #

lol i wonder how many grey hairs popped up outta all these posts ... so funny

melco 11/29/2008 #

This is exactly the type of swap I've been searching for.

AncientPlanter 11/29/2008 #

If you can't write competently, which you can't, what's to make me think your art is competent and up to my standards? I see in your profile that you're in college; perhaps you should take an English composition class or two. Oh, and there is a group here that allows only the best of the best artists to join. Why don't you try getting in that one? Then you might get art you can appreciate.

FarStarr 12/ 4/2008 #

Are you going to assign partners? I was hoping to tailor the ATC's to my partners, but we're running out of time...:)

sunnysidey 12/ 4/2008 #

Yeah I'm hanging out for this to start, I've already made mine so I hope this one won't be cancelled. If it is, anyone wanna private swap with me? :-)

FarStarr 12/ 5/2008 #

You know I'll swap with ya sunny...anytime. :)
