Description:

Use your bits and pieces of off-cut papers from other projects to make 2 sheets of collage paper for your partners to use in their own art. I've seen these papers called "Franken papers" if you want to check out YouTube for more thorough how-tos.

Basically, all you'll do is...

  1. Get 2 sheets of 8.5”x11” printer paper.

  2. Get a bunch of scrap pieces of paper and ephemera---for this swap, please focus on designing interesting papers. Pick a color scheme or theme for each sheet of paper you create--sender's choice.

  3. Glue the pieces of paper to the base layer of paper. Keep going until you've completely covered the base layer. Use at least 10 scrap papers per sheet of paper.

  4. Let the collage papers flatten and dry totally (sandwiched between more papers, under some books works great).

  5. Trim the edges to set the papers straight again, then split them in half (5.5" x 8.5") and send 2 different sections to each of your partners.

Keep in mind: these are meant to be sheets of paper for your partners to use in future projects. The process is similar to making masterboard backgrounds, but you'll end up with a flexible, lighter weight product. Use flat papers, no embellishments and no sealers. Glue well.

In the end, we'll all have 4 samples of unique scrappy collage papers to use.
