Welcome to the Nuts for Sewing Group Whimsy Jar Swap! For this swap, you will send your partner one jar at least 5" tall, filled with all sorts of sewing or needlework/yarnwork goodies. You can refer to your partner's profile to see what kinds of things they will use. Please make sure you use a clean jar, with all labels and adhesives removed. The top of the jar must be decorated. Feel free to decorate the outside of the jar, but you must decorate the top.

Ideas for items to include are: Empty bobbins, embroidery floss, thimbles, buttons, stitch markers, zippers, charms, yo-yos, trims, flexible measuring tape, etc.

Fabric may be sent, however, do not stuff your jar full of fabric just to take up room. Also, please send new items, unless your partner specifies interest in vintage items.

Everyone in the Nuts for Sewing Group is welcome to sign up, however if you flake on your partner you will be banned from the Group, with a No Return Policy.

Also this swap is International.

Have fun! :)

I have some very nice tins- usually from tea, but other things too. Could I send that instead of a (breakable) jar?

SkippyMom 01/ 6/2009 #

I love this so much. Unfortunately I always seem to receive Russia or Slavakia to send to and the postage is untenable for me.

If you make a US/Canada I can happily participate :D [oh and no offense to the far out countries, I simply can't afford the postage:( ]

Newleaf- I would say that you might want to ask your partner. Some people like jars because they can see through them. But your partner might be ok with a tin. You can also try to find a plastic jar.

SkippyMom- Since it is a group swap I did not want to exclude anyone by making it US/Canada only. But perhaps when this one is finished, we can have a regional one as well.

I really want to join this swap:o) However, i usually decorate a non breakable container to send as my whimsey jars. They are gravy tubs & are about 2/3 the size of a pringles container. It means they hold a good amount, is pretty & useful afterwards, unbreakable but also lighter to ship. Is this ok?
