Description:

I sometimes wonder if anyone uses cursive handwriting these days. Schools don't teach it anymore and it has become quite the topic in the media questioning its relevancy.

My unpopular opinion would be that even though modern tech doesn't leave much room for the need of this skill, it still is pretty to look at and we do need to sign checks once in a while! :P

World Calligraphy Day 2019 was August 14th. [calligraphy... cursive.. close enough! :P] So I am making a themed letter swap just for cursive writing to celebrate as well as keep cursive alive! ^^ I may set up future rounds of this if the response is positive :)

If you are a stationery connoisseur like myself, you may find yourself pining away after fancy letter sets :) They're just so cute and posh!

For this swap, we will be writing a letter to 1 partner on a letter set. To be considered a letter set, there must be a matching sheet of paper with an envelope. Can be more than one sheet, but minimum one.

Please choose at least 3 of the following topics to write about in your letter:

  • what was the highlight of your week?

  • what are you looking forward to in fall 2019?

  • what gets you inspired creatively?

  • who is someone famous that you look up to or has had a positive influence on you?

  • do you feel that schools should continue teaching cursive writing? why or why not?

The fine details of this, that, and the other etc:

  • one partner!

  • 4.95+ rating

  • no 1s/3s unexplained

  • USA only

  • letter set with AT LEAST one sheet of matching paper

  • minimum of 25 type 2 / 3 swaps completed

This is a neat idea! I won't be joining, as I live in Canada and the swap isn't open to me, but I often write in cursive and it's been forcing my younger coworkers to do a bit of research and learn to understand my writing! My boyfriend is 11 years younger than myself and was also not taught to do this in school, so he's curious to learn and it's been kind of neat teaching someone.. although I've given him the same sheets we used to get in school to practice with because my "style" doesn't always follow the proper cursive rules we were taught, it kind of morphed into something personal to me :)

@agirlnamedfriday I am definitely considering making in open to international or making an INTL version! I want to open this up for more swappers since I know many will have varying opinions on this. Thanks for sharing, it's interesting to hear how different people feel about this topic. :) I remember back in grade school having to repeat over and over all the letter sets until it was ingrained in my brain haha!
