Description:

Andre Wyeth was one of the more influential American painters of the 20th century. He died this January. His best known painting, "Christina's World," has been parodied, replicated and honored worldwide. His other works are equally evocative and thought-provoking.

You can read more about Wyeth here: http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/wyeth_andrew.html

For this swap you will send your partner two items.

  • One handmade item that represents Wyeth or his work. It can be an ATC, altered Wyeth print, bookmark, painting of your own that was influenced by Wyeth, collage, anything, as long as it somehow represents the work of Andrew Wyeth.

  • A note about your favorite Andrew Wyeth work, or one that you particularly love, and a picture of the work (a print out is fine, even a URL).

Rules:

  • No no-sends or threes in the last three months, or a note to me about what happened.

  • Newbies are welcome, but check in with me so I know you understand swapping and your obligation. I want everyone to have a good experience.

  • This is an international swap.

Thanks for signing up! Please contact me if you have any questions.

One of my many favorites is "The Carry" painting that he did. http://andrewwyeth.com/AndrewWyeth8.html I also loved the ones he did of Christina, the barn series, and I especially loved the ones he did with the baby cow next to the barn. I can't remember the name of that one. He was a pretty amazing artist. If anyone is interested in joining any of my swaps that I'm hosting. "Inspire Me with Art" http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/29113 There are two of them. One for U.S. only and the second one is International and U.S.

My parent live near the Brandywine Museum of Art where many of the Wyeth family Art can be seen...my older son loves to go there when we visit my parents. We've seen Andrew's house and you can tell he used the property in many of his pictures. His father's studio is also near the museum and sometimes is open to the public. When we were there taking the tour of studio one time we actually saw Andrew walking around.

Lynnie, what a treat! I didn't realize he was still alive until I heard he had died, what a tremendous lifetime of achievement! I'm watching this swap and may join.

I've joined! We're lucky here in Dallas to have several NC and Andrew Wyeth pieces at the Dallas Museum of Art. I will seek them out again to refresh myself on Andrew Wyeth.

This is an interesting site about A.Wyeth. And his beautiful paintings such as Helga and his controversial ones, the nude paintings. (sorry I can't remember how to do a link.) http://a-list.msn.com/default.aspx?cp-searchtext=Andrew%20Wyeth%20%28Christina%27s%20World%20and%20Helga%20paintings%29
