Here’s a starter on quarantine craft Funnies...(All for laugh factor, of course 😁)

So here are the Crafty questions currently being pondered at my house:

1) Should not everything in the plastics recycling bin be able to be turned into something really cool, functional, and...“Salable! (Note: *”Salable” is our new family threshold for crafty quality, as my Granddaughter is talking an on-line entrepreneurship class!)

2) Why, Oh! Why?! are there so many lip gloss recipes on line that advocate for CRAYONS to be used as colorants? 😳

3) For her on-line entrepreneurial class: Why, Oh! Why?!...did my tween Granddaughter just make 20 large tubs (Ginormous! by lip gloss standards) of crayon-colored lip gloss to sell in the class Etsy shop? 🤦🏽‍♀️

4) How is the best way to inform said Granddaughter (without crushing her Crafty, Entrepreneurial spirit): “Your lipglosses are Amazing! And even though Internet, Mom, and teacher approved...Those.Lip.Glosses.Can.NEVER.Be.Sold!”

5) Here’s a question pondered by me for many years: “What’s so “special” about real Shrinky Dink plastic, anywho?” (In my head: “Shrink plastic prices are just a scam!”) Well, had time to find out.

(Just fyi: People, NO plastic in your recycle bin~no matter how much it resembles Shrinky Dink in weight, thickness, or “clarity”...it is NOT shrink plastic. Nope. It ain’t. Can’t reiterate this enough.)

6) Here’s a great Crafty ponder question, especially good if pondered over a glass of wine, late night: “During this time of isolation, can one be “too” creative/ “too” crafty? Evidence please.” (My daughter and I have a blast with this one! :-)

@ArtExpress Clear plastic clamshell containers are the right type to shrink. Every once in awhile i get then with takeout or fruit from the grocery. I believe it's number 6 plastic. Also, no need to crush your girls dreams... Maybe just suggest/insist she use Crayola crayons. They're non-toxic. 😁

Aren't all crayons made for children to use non-toxic??? Gosh I hope so, cause my grandkids have often been seen sucking on them.

Also, am totally OUT of lipgloss and I volunteer to test it, so if you get me as a partner, I'd love to get some of it!

I’m reminded of reading that in WW 2 lipstick was called “the red badge of courage” because women still used makeup and fancy hairstyles even in war production jobs. Lipgloss, even crayon-colored (and I too vote for non-toxic crayons!) is the modern version - I still ‘dress up’ to watch church services online. Sticking to even lowered standards is our way of still being US even under lockdown. I have stepped up my viewing of Youtube tutorials and am crafting in ‘bulk,’ making items which a favorite store can sell when it reopens; giving these to them rather than getting a cut. There is a lot of revenue to catch up on! This leads to my ‘too crafty’ moment: I am painting Japanese characters on glass and firing them. Some of the words may get ‘misspelled’ due to my beginner character-painting skills. There is a fine line between the character for ‘strength’ and for ‘nine’ - between the characters for ‘person’ and ‘fire’ - between ‘Heaven’ and ‘dog.’ Who knows what people will really be wearing? Something that says “nine dogs are on fire” sends quite the message ...

I am using dryer lint to make paper, clay, and mache with my son for the pulp and paper merit badge! Also rekindled my fondness for recycling plastic grocery bags by braiding them into sit-upons for our homeless folks...we use them sometimes when camping too! The scrunched up scraps make for a cool painting tool too - better than sponge painting because they don’t drink up all your product!!!
