MONEY ALTARS:

There is no set blueprint for altars. You are allowed to decorate your altar with whatever herbs, crystals, or sacred objects you feel harness the energy you wish it to have. It's meant to be as beautiful and unique as you are.

I keep my own private altar in a cabinet with a curtain that can be drawn when our non-pagan friends visit, not because I am ashamed of it, but because I want to spare my husband the inevitable "aren't you afraid for your immortal soul?" rhetoric. Instead, I have a wonderful table centerpiece with a vase of flowers (to represent the Goddess) surrounded by a cute display of colorful stones. (Tiger eye in the north, quartz in the east, jasper in the south and amethyst in the west).

Outdoor altars are usually of a temporary nature and are all the more lovely for it. The beach is a wonderful place to set up a one-day altar on driftwood with seaweed and shells. There, unless the beach is too crowded, you can commune with the water deities and seek your deepest reaches of spirit. Forest, farm, and meadow offer earth and sky and the sanctity of our mother earth upon which to build your altar. As you do so, reflect upon your connection to the ancients, We follow in their footsteps.

I keep my house as my altar ~ I live alone in a log cabin. Many of my friends have never asked outright but seem to accept me and my path. I change up my mantle throughout the seasons and I have a jute line hanging up across the ceiling beams of my living room where I hang everything from herbs and cards to any dangly that catches my eye... In the corner of the living room I have a small wicker basket with my crystal spheres and I have stones and other reminders all throughout the house. My kitchen window has statues, plants and crystals; I've had non-practicing friends bring me stones they thought I would like just from visiting my house. I know how lucky I am to be able to live the way I do...
