All Around the Globe Large Collage

Hi Mayki76, Can you give me some guidelines about how much of the collage to do before sending it on to the second partner? Does starting the collage mean doing the background only, or does one do more?

It means doing some work - "leaving you mark" on the paper. each person has different work process. i would rather not do the background but adding some elements.

I need some guidelines about how much to do to begin the collage. You need to explain how much each person should do before sending it on. and I'd also like to know why the last day to sign up and the swap date are so far away?

Yay...looks like I am in. Thank you for organizing. I am looking forward to working on the collage since it will be my first time. Don't worry...I am artistic and do all kinds of crafts so I am thrilled to tackle something new. I guess a bit more guidelines would be useful. What are the dimensions that we start off with?

The SWAP day is so far since i cant obligate earlier due to buisness travel. Sorry to keep you waiting but maybe this way more people will enroll as well.

As for how much work to put in each stage: I cant really tell you what to do or how much to do, since each person express him self differently. keep in mind this is 3 stages collage so you should make about 1/3. Dont take it literally - you dont have to fill 1/3 of the substrate, but prepare some what an artistic base for the next people. What you put on paper will give the tone for your partners work but should also leave enough room for your partners creativity.

Will the collages each come home to the people who started them once each of the 4 participants have added their contributions? I hope so! It would be great to see how "our own" collages were altered/developed.

Oh my gosh........I love this! I can't wait to get started. This is such a great idea. Two questions though.... 1. You say we are to use up to approximately 1/3 of the surface. Are we working in sections or are we to work freely, moving over the entire substrate, possibly overlapping the work of the other partners?

1. You also mention heavy weight paper (this is fine but). Would it be too expensive to use something like multimedia artboard, watercolor board or a clayboard panel? I was just thinking that something with more substance will hold up better in it's multi mailing /handling.

Is this starting in July then? Should we be working on our collages? Just making sure the dates are accurate. Thank you. Cant wait. I have been thinking of some ideas but haven't started yet.

This sounds like tons of Fun! When you say 'Letter sized' are you talking 8.5 x 11? I normally use canvas board for collages, do you think this will be to heavy?

Madtatter7 = the date is july. you can start working on the first part but keep in mind it shouldnt be finished or even closed to finished since two more people will have to add their art on it.

Madtatter7 - thank you. yes letter size or A4 paper. please use a paper and not canvas since we want to keep the porting fee low, but please use a thick paper so it will hold.

i will send anyone who play a mail with all the ideas and how things should work. we will set a time frame for each posting so it wont come too long. please dont join if you cant participate and play fear - you will mess up for 4 people!

Robin - you dont have to use 1\3 of the paper since i want our work to work together. taake it as you do 1\3 of the work, adding your thing into a 3 people creation. You can use any kind of base as long as it is not heavy and can easily be send in a padded envelope.

cookiebear - no, you will recieve a collage made by 3 other people but we can all agree to post pictures to show anyone what came out.

I planned on using watercolor paper. Is that good?

FarStar - i have to admit i dont know what water color paper is! but use your judgment with what i explained here before.

What is the time frame for sending our portion on to the next person? Post from UK can be very slow. Regards, Margot.

boatingbelle - since posting might take a while - specially international, we will have to try and not hold it for too long. As soon as you recieve your piece, try to work on it as soon as possible, no longer than 2-3 days. specilly those who have to send it far away.

I see you have changed the number of partners from 4 to 1, how do we get a partner for the 2nd to 4th stages of the swap?

Hi Robin! Just wanted to let you know that I will be sending off the collage today. Have just got back from vacation, and I didn't know my partner before I left. It takes a little while for mail to get to the US from Sweden, but it should be there within the week. Looking forward to seeing what comes my way!

The beginnings of a collage went out today to Ellen. It was hard to decide how much, or how little to add. I think it will be easier being the second and third person to work on a piece...can't wait!

Go all the way back to the top of this swap page.
Just below the title of the swap, you will see "Launch gallery slideshow". Click on that and a new window will pop up.

For those who don't know how to up-load pictures.......... It is located in the yellow box along with the rate you" partner and coordinator", etc.

BTW......

Pinkmini and I are the only people who have uploaded pics.

Wow wow wow Robin...I am thouroughly (hmmm did I spell that wrong?) impressed. I am new to the whole collage world and now realize I am waaaaay to structured. I need to loosen up a bit. See, I learned something new already. I will also figure out how to do the uploading and put the beginning of my collage up. I just took a picture of my portion so far.

Wooo Hooo...finally figuring this all out. Thank you Robin. Actually I had uploaded pictures of some previous swaps and had no idea how to view them. Question though. How do I make the pictures smaller to upload them. I take a picture with my camera then save them as jpg's. How is everyone else making them smaller and clearer. Aaaaah...so confusing and so much to learn.

Madtatter.........do you have photoshop, or HP gallery, or Kodak (?), or olympus camidia, or corel photo center, etc on your pc? You can change the size in one of these programs. But honestly............I just up-load from my camera into a folder and then upload from the folder to the site.............no alterations. I just don't have the time.

Okay…….what am I doing wrong?

I have joined the “All Around the Globe Large Collage� group on Flickr, I have uploaded 2 pictures (mine and Elisabeth’s starters), and they have been tagged. When I log into my flickr account, I can view all uploaded collages. Yet when I am not logged on, I can only view pinkmini’s, mayki76’s and FarStar’s collages. My 2 pics and gipsygal’s pic (of her collage) do not show. In the pool, it shows that we are members of the group and that we have added our pictures, but it doesn’t allow our pics for view. It states….. There aren't any photos taken by (our flicker sign-in names) visible to you in the All Around the Globe Large Collage pool. So what am I forgetting, that this should happen?

I received collages from cats and fromthepines today. I'll let you know when I get them out to Ellen...

Hmmm Robin...I'm not sure because I can see your pictures, but I am logged on. Let me try without logging on and see what comes up...Wow! That is strange! I can't figure it out either. Your pictures weren't there unless I was logged in. Do you have your pictures marked a "private" instead of "public"?

Okay gang, I uploaded part 2 of Robins original today, Maya, I'll have it posted tomorrow! Now to work on part 3 of the collage Elisabeth started and Robin worked on! Hope everyone is having as much fun with this as I am!
