Description:

With all of the negativity, stress and heartache in the world today, I thought it would be nice to create something that would give people a sense of peace and calm. :)

This swap is for triptych cards with a peaceful theme. You can get templates for these cards here: http://www.ruthannzaroff.com/mirkwooddesigns/triptych.htm

A triptych has 3 panels and opens up... kind of like french doors. :) So you could create perhaps a window looking into a garden, or a doorway to another place and time... the possibilities are endless. Whatever gives you a feeling of serenity can be used in this swap.

You will have 2 partners for which you will make 1 card. These can be embellished any way you choose. Just be as neat and creative as possible and have fun with it! :)

This swap is international. Newbies with informative profiles are welcome. People with poor ratings and a history of no-sends are not. I will be checking carefully to see who' who, so ya better behave yourselves! ;oP

I would like making these tryptychs...I thank you SharonF

Great idea, but you should probably clarify the size requirements. The templates are for cards larger than an ATC.

Windchimes 04/18/2007 #

I would like size boundaries - in other words no smaller than and no large than... I would like to lean on the larger size - I have posterboard so I could cut it any size - not huge but not itty bitty either.

Hi all!

As you can probably tell, I am somewhat of a "newbie" hosting this particular kind of swap, so I was not even thinking of size. Sorry about that!

I DID intend them to be quite a bit bigger than regular atc's, though.

Are the ones on the link I gave too big for all of you to make? Those are approx. 5" x 6" when closed (which would be approx. 6" x 10" when open.)

That is most likely the size I will be making mine.

We could say no larger than that, and no smaller than, say, 3" x 5" when closed? Would that work for everyone?

starweaver 04/18/2007 #

I think the size of the templates will be fine - but then you need to remove the term "ATC" and list it in a different section - otherwise people who sign up will be expecting 3.5 x 2.5 inches (anything else is not an ATC).

SharonP 04/18/2007 #

I agree with Starweaver. The one "rule" about ATCs is their size, so it is definitely confusing to classify this as an ATC swap.

I like the idea though, (and the time frame -- I am not joining any more swaps that are due in May!), and will be happy to join up!

Actually, the ATC size is part of what appeals to me -- I envisioned something that would be the size of an ATC when closed (I really like working in small sizes). Would that be too small?

But I can go along with the 3-by-5-inch minimum if that's where you want to keep it.

By the way, Serene_Serenade, I'm glad you decided to stick around.

Starweaver ~ Thanks for helping me out with this. :) I have made the changes now in the swap description.

Sharon P ~ That should be fine if you want to make the card that smaller size. I would say no smaller than that, though, and no larger than 5x7. :) Awww! thank you so much for that sweet comment about me staying. Hugs

How ironic that we are doing a Peaceful Place swap that ends on Friday the 13th!!!! :D

4getmenot71 04/26/2007 #

Oh my, Windchimes! I didn't even realize that! But June 13th was my late friends birthday, and she was ALWAYS trying to help me find inner peace, so I kind of think of it as a tribute to her. :)

BarefootGypsy 05/ 4/2007 #

I think that this is a beautiful idea and I'm quite looking forward to making these.

Windchimes 05/ 7/2007 #

Serene - It is a beautiful idea for a tribute and I think you should make it an annual tradition. It is important to do things like that to remember those we have lost - this is one of the nicest tributes I have ever seen. I like this idea for even an individual to do for themselves as a way to honor a loved one! You have inspired me.

I have to drop this swap and I am so sorry but the problem is because of it being international - the postal rates have gone sky high and as a widowed mom, especially with my son being disabled, I have to watch the budget. Perhaps another time if you do it again - or perhaps we could collaborate on another one for US only - I would love to do one to honor my husband - he is an August birthday so let me know if you are interested.

I hope everyone finds the peace and beauty that you are presenting in this wonderful idea! Adelle

I'm really looking forward to making and receiving these. A very unique swapping idea. I'll probably keep them at work or in my truck. That way, when I'm sitting in front of the computer and I'm stressed out over something, I can look through my little "window" into a calm and peaceful place. Same for when I'm sitting in traffic, not moving, during rush hour... ;D
