Description:

MAKE 3 ragquilt blocks for your 3 partners.(3 X 3 = 9!!!) THESE are made by taking a 9 inch square of fabric of any pattern, design, pieced, appliqued, or a solid for the front... and a 9 inch square of solid colored fabric for the back...and put a 6 1/2 inch square of batting in the middle...sew the sandwich together by sewing or embroidering any pattern or design you like, or more important that your partner will like! So check out those profiles!!! IT"S verry important to leave raw edges and dont sew within 1 inch of the edges...the quilt will be put together by sewing the squares together with the raw edges sticking up on the front then they are snipped and freyed...a blossom rag quilt pattern is on joanns fabric web site...if u have any ?s please pm me EDITED 5/5/09...I HAD A COMPLAINT IN THE LAST SWAP THAT THE QUALITY OF FABRIC AND WORKMANSHIP WASNT UP TO SNUFF! PLEASE USE THICK GOOD QUALITY FABRIC AND BE CAREFUL THAT THE EDGES LINE UP AND ARE STRAIGHT BEFORE SEWING SO THE BLOCK ENDS UP SQUARE...AND WILL BE LIKED AND USED BY YOUR PARTNER!!! thanx!

Is this made from cotton or flannel?

anrtist 04/ 2/2009 #

i have made mine from cotton...but i wouldnt mind a few flannel squares in mine...i dont know , does anyone...would washing effect it much with different fabrics...i dont think it would hurt it...I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD PUT IN THEIR PROFILES THE KIND OF FABRICS THEY LIKE...LIKE I DID... AND SAY IF THERE IS A KIND YOU DO NOT WANT TO RECEIVE...THAT should be good enough!

I love flannel so much!! I think it would be interesting to have a combination of both. So that is what I will supplement my blocks with, but if anyone wants flannel too, I'll send some, its the yummiest when it frays!!!

Oh, and if you use flannel, you don't need any batting, since it is already thick and fluffy if you use quilter's grade flannel and not the low quality stuff.

i usually use a layer of flannel for the batting... and cotton or flannel for front and back... i will make squares to my partners request.... i love flannel on at least one side of mine.... thanks!!!

i like the roll of cotton batting ....its easy to cut and i think it would be much better than using flannel...fluffier! yummiest!!!(i love it!!!) cc

i´ve just joined in some minutes ago. but I have to tell that in Mexico there are one or two kinds of batting. I hope that my possible partners know that and don´t mind... I would like to recieve pink blocks with cotton in both sides. Happy swapping!
