I dunno if there would be anyway to do it... but wouldn't the novel make more sense in the end if we could each actually read what the other people have written, instead of only knowing a brief summary?

it was a trick we did in my creative writing class, What we did we each had about 10 minutes to write about anything, then we had to cover it up and swap books, we'd go all around the room and have a crazy mixed up story. It was funny! And so much fun to see the different writing styles. I will think about making a round robin one at a later date ^_^

I wonder how this will be organised? As I understand it, one partner starts to write a chapter and send it to the assigned partner who completes the chapter. That's why everyone write a half of two different chapters. So it makes 8 participants equal 8 chapters? I'd like to participate but wonder if this is international? How long have the chapters to be?

Okay, am I the only one who is frustrated by this swap? I've been assigned a later chapter and don't feel I can start it until I know what has happened in the previous chapters, or even names of characters. AM I missing something here or is this "novel" going to have no continuity whatsoever?

I agree, I've got chapter 6, so I've been patiently checking for any update from other participants. I'd hate to see the potential of this swap die!

I'd hate to have one person write about a girl named Jill, then write about Mary. Instead of an interesting novel, they'd come off as somewhat-related short stories!

Am I the only one concerned that ViveItalia has an overall rating of 1, and doesn't seem to reply to emails?

Yeah, I'm a little worried on that as well. There was mention that their e-mail bounced back when chapters were assigned, so we might have to bump chapters down a number and skip over them.

I agree, this needs resolved. I'm chapter 2, but I can't write my chapter either without knowing anything about chapter 1. Dreamer, have you heard from VivItalia? If we don't hear from you soon as to what to do, do the other ladies playing want me to write chapter 1, and move everyone up one? If I can write chapter 1, I'll have this done by Tuesday, along with the names of the characters and everything.

I think we should all move up a chapter. Is there a way to push the due date of this swap back a few weeks? I don't know if we'll have the time to get everything done.

Also, swap coordinator what are your thoughts? I think you're the only one who can push the date back..

Yep, I agree on the moving up a chapter idea thing, and the changing of the deadline. ViveItalia also doesn't seem to have logged in recently either. If no one vetoes the idea, then I guess the new line-up is as follows: Chapter 1 will be written by Little Kitty. Chapter 2 will be written by me. Chapter 3 will be written by Jack's Mom. Chapter 4 by our swap coordinator, Dreamer, and Chapter 5 by Lithmire. I hope I haven't come across as being too bossy, but as the current deadline is drawing to a close, I though we'd better put a sock in it. ;-)

No, I wouldn't worry about it, Rammi. I don't think you are coming across as bossy, and since Dreamer hasn't gotten back to us, I think moving the chapter's up is the way to go. I'll send her a message and tell her we decided to move the chapter's up since the deadline is approaching and there's been no word from her OR viveitalia. I'll ask about extending the deadline too, Jack's Mom. But if you are late sending (I think you're my partner, actually) don't worry about it, I won't get angry.

Rammi and Little Kitty all sounds good. Rammi you don't sound bossy at all. We need someone to take the lead and give some direction, so thanks:)

BTW- Who is supposed to rec from ViveItalia? I'm supposed to send to her, but since it seems no one ever gets their stuff from her (according to all the 1's at her profile), I'm going to send my chapter to her partner, just as soon as I know who it is. I gotta go to the Post office, but as soon as I get baCK I'll write in with the character names and what I made the beginning of the story about. No one ever said how long these chapters are supposed to be, but to write a novel from 5 chapters? It's going to have to be fairly long chapters I'd think.

If we're going by NaNoWriMo standards, then each chapter should be around 10k long. ;-) Maybe each chapter should be around 5k? I dunno. Remember that old saying, "Quality, not quantity?" I'm supposed to receive from ViveItalia, btw. I just checked.

Sorry I've been since a horrible cordinator! Everything is fine with what I read, chapter lengths are what ever you feel, I won't stifle anyone's creativity. And as we didn't get a huge turn out, Anyone who wants can take two or more as long as they have a partner to swap it with. And, as you do your chapters, post what is going on so we can all follow each other. And How long do you want the date extended too?

A couple of weeks should do the trick, I reckon... Plus, in the summer holidays, I write better. Rest and relaxation... I can't wait.

I agree, a few weeks or so should be fine. Maybe make the deadline Aug. 1st, since we've got everything sorted out at almost a month later than the old starting date?

Little Kitty, how's the first chapter going? :-D

Okay, I still haven't been able to start a chapter since I have NO IDEA what is going on with previous chapters. I hate to be a pain, but is this swap going to ever be completed, or should we all say it was sent and just chalk it up to something. I wanted to do this in the summer and the later it gets delayed the closer it gets to the start of the semester and really busy times for me. Are there other thoughts on this?

I've been thinking about suggesting we all say sent and try and start it again later, or something. I was really excited, but I'm going back to school soon, as well.

Oh My gosh! I am such a spaz!!! I am so sorry you guys! I totally forgot about this swap! The last half of July has been really busy for me, and this swap completely slipped my mind. When I worked on it last...at like the beginning of July, I had my chapter nearly completed, but I'm not sure how well I like it (I am horrible when it comes to having written something, and then re-reading it and deciding I didn't really like it very much...) Anyway, I'm rambling. What do you ladies want to do? Oh! I wish someone would have messaged me, I would have remembered. I feel really bad!

I'd be willing to still continue on, I suppose. We can move it along through e-mail and go fairly quickly.

I seriously have no time to do this anymore- Sorry. Plus, does anyone know where the swap coordinator is? Can we just call this sent and someone else can coordinate a new swap doing the same thing for those who are interested.

They've logged in today, and have all kinds of no-sends. :/ There's one comment about her health being bad, but it was left in May! I've left my feedback for this swap already, and plan on marking "sent" and dashing off an e-mail to my partner explaining that people just don't have time any more.

I vote we call this sent as well. I'll leave feedback for my partner, but there is no way I would ever get rated for this swap anyway, as my partner was ViveItalia, the member who flaked in the beginning. I really don't think the corrdinator did a good job keeping track of this, considering I had to message her and get her to change the swap deadline in the first place. This is the first swap I've been in on here where the corrdinator isn't "with it" as far as keeping track of the swap and stuff.

I was supposed to receive from ViveItalia, so I dunno what I should give her a rating of, seeing as she has loads of no-sends.

I sent a message to the host back on the 3rd, but it's still unread. :/
