THIS IS AN EMAIL SWAP

Greetings Georgettes, We shall continue to tackle the promised BAND SAMPLER to encourage bravery in the stitching field of embroidery. It is NOT hard, it merely takes repetitive practice, a few lines on a scrap of cloth, and once learned never forgotten, like riding a bike.

THIS IS A PROGRESSIVE SWAP and is intended for your personal benefit, to refer back to the sampler to whenever you need a stitch to decorate a gift for a loved one or household item, a sachet for your neighbour or friend, or a decorated swap with your own special addition of personal attention, perhaps a stitched label or motif thus enriching your partners journal, what a delightful concept.

Round #2

We will be attempting two rows of each (6) stitches in parallel lines:-

  • Fly Stitch

  • Straight Stitch

follow the example of five straight stitches joined at the base and add ...

  • French Knots if you wish, we can revisit this stitch by adding a french knot on the tops of the second Straight Stitch row, which ever you choose, eg, 2nd & 4th straight stitch to look like flowers so we are revisiting this stitch at your request, with fun in the making.

  • Herringbone Stitch

  • Couching Stitch

  • Blanket Stitch

I have now chosen to use the tutorials of "The Spruce Crafts" to demonstrate the basic 15 stitches online for you. I originally had Ann of Pumora but she now charges to use her stitches. so I came across this straightforward site, you are still able to have all the background advice and visually follow these tutorials - our BAND SAMPLER.

Learning the basic stitches is KEY to discovering all the fabulous other stitches that are smothering the internet at present. We will get there, and have great fun. But we have to start at the beginning. Later we shall progress to a more refined site, but first things first, the basics. Of course many of you already know most of them but it does us good to make an effort to record them all in one place on the same piece of cloth. Like the samplers of the girls and women in our era and before, this memory cloth will hold magic for generations to come.

For the previous round of 5 stitches please refer to the link below, where you can still find them free, plus the measurements and materials needed for our BAND SAMPLER to catch up and join in the stitching fun.

1st Band Sampler instructions

We shall have ONE (1) partner to send our photograph of our band sampler stitches. This is a category type 3 swap, as we will be doing our stitches over a period of time.

As always, Any queries please don't hesitate to ask.

When I click the first two links, I go to the website and get the usual cookie warning but no matter which option I make I can get no further. I found other videos that tell me how to do the stitches but cannot follow the example of using the French Knot. Is anyone else having this problem?

Anna, so sorry you’ve been having issues. I hope they have already resolved, if not my suggestion is to either 1)clear your cache of cookies and attempt it again or 2) copy the url and open it using a different browser. I hope it’s already resolved and you are busy happily stitching! πŸ’–

Thank you Nickalli, and Jane, my son sorted this out for me so I can view the website and I'm happily stitching away.
