Description: | |
This is a collaboration postcard swap. It is similar to the regular Pass and Paste postcards (as it will have rounds), but in this series, ALL artists will work on the front side of the postcard forming ONE large collaboration of art. The end result is a collaged postcard. This is an international swap – to join, you must be able to expect mail to be delivered/received within 5 weeks. Please rate promptly so that we know our cards are received. PLEASE NOTE: There will be a two-week turnaround for each round going forward. You can join in at any time. For your first round, you will start a postcard of any mailable size. To begin a postcard, address the backside of the postcard to yourself. Include your country. Divide the writing portion into 3 or 4 sections, for collaborating artists to write their user names, swap names, and the items they added to the PC. Please keep the bottom 1 CM or ½ inch of the back of the card BLANK so the USPS can print an unobstructed bar code at the bottom, which will help the final PC travel faster within the US. Remember to put your user name and the swap name on each postcard you send. On the front side, the person starting the postcard will add some Art as a base. This can be collage, mixed media, painting, etc., (please not a single sheet of decorative paper). Do not divide the front side into sections as in the “pass and paste” swaps. In each following round, the next artist will add 2 or 3 elements (please avoid the use of stickers, but if one is used it must be an art sticker or cropped to remove the white border), and describe these additions in their sign-in box on the back of the card. For each round, the PCs will be mailed between the artists, in an envelope, until the maximum number of artists/spaces is reached, and then it will be mailed “Naked” or in a clear envelope, back to the original starter of the postcard. The end result is a collaboration piece of art by 3-4 artists. If you are assigned a partner whose postcard is the card you have in your possession, or has signed it already, simply start a new postcard, and hold onto the PC until the next round. If you send a postcard home to the original artist, you may need to start a new postcard to send to your partner in the next round, if you don’t already have one in your possession. TIP: If the last artist can seal the front of the card with mod podge, gel medium or the equivalent, it helps prevent the items from falling off the card in the mail system. Do not do this if ink sprays or watercolor paints were used, as they will reactivate and smear. Please do not use packaging tape to seal a finished postcard. Please PM me with questions, as swap coordinators are not notified when comments are posted. Also, if you receive a PM from me about this swap series, please reply to it or you may not be included in future swaps. It is not required to sign up for every round, but if you decide to stop participating altogether, please forward any incomplete PCs to the swap coordinator or the group founder.
