What's an ATC then? 2

There's a lot of information on ATC's in the discussion on the first swap of this series. It is an old swap so you cannot join. If you have any questions after reading that, ask away!

First swap

This is something I really want to do more of, so this will be a perfect beginning swap for me!

Sorry, never made one b4 - what are the demensions? What materials can be used? 2-D or 3-D or either? Thanks for the help!

kgeslab the dimensions of an ATC are 2.5 by 3.5 inches.

Thay can be anything you like but must be thin enough to fit in a sleave. Think as though you are going to put it in a photo album, if it won't fit then it's too thick.

please no cherubs for me if at all possible. i try to stay away from that genre of art which it seems a lot of altered art incorporates (ie. the cherubs and faux vintage images). It's just not too appealing to me.

Have never done this before - but it sounds fun. But..PLEASE.. no spiders as I am absolutely terrified of them. A web on its own is o.k. - but no inhabitant!

I have never done this before. My daughter put me onto this yesterday and got me signed up. Can I ask a question please? Do we do our own ATCs and send them or do we wait until we recieve the first one to know which subject it is on? I am a little confused by this at the moment.

Hi nannypops You choose to make your own ATC's out of the themes provided. You can choose one single one or different one, but it is your choice :)

As far as 3-d or 2-d, in the general ATC world out there, anything goes as long as the end product is 2.5" x 3.5". For the purposes of most swaps here and in some other places, they prefer them to fit in the card sleeves that are available for protecting them, they also fit in baseball card sheets--9 to a sheet.

Out there in the world, artists make them that are three dimensional, thick as a pack of playing cards, or thinner, or thicker, some unfold into a sheet of paper, or parts unfold or pivot out on brads to be an art doll or something, there are ATC mini 'zines with multiple pages made from one sheet of paper that folds up into a little 8-page book (zine), and accordian pleated minibooks that contract into the required size. ATCs can be made from glass, plastic, polymer clay, wood, metal, woven ribbons, fabrics, fusible materials, embroidered organza, collaged materials, found objects, and they can also be photographs--altered or not, drawings and paintings on handmade paper, canvas, watercolor paper, cardstock, matboard, chipboard, corrugated cardboard, laminated materials, eggshells glued onto card, dried flowers embedded in handmade paper. The joy of ATCs is that they are basically unlimited in what your imagination can make of them! There are a million collage techniques, another million rubber stamp and ink techniques, and then there are the zillions of other things that haven't evenbeen tried yet! Freedom and personal expression is the order of the day when playing with ATCs, so have fun!

hiya my ATC's are in the post to my parters, im sory if they are not very good it was my first go at making them. i was looking at some websites and wow some of them are really good which made me rethink about the ones i sent. but i guess we all gotta start somwhere.
